2. Testimonial from Christoph Kasseckert (2)
Teacher High School/Secondary (ages 14-18) at Realschule Hirschaid
Germany

I know Mr Kegelmann as a speaker and a tutor at my training for becoming a consultant for the educational use of media at school. Because of his ability to teach in a constructive way, I had invited him to offer and lead through a workshop at the "Hirschaider IT-Days" in June 2004. The purpose of this event is to teach students and teachers of schools in the surrounding area of our school in specific IT-sectors which are not demanded in our curriculum. Mr Kegelmann leaded the workshop "Design in multimedia-projects like presentations and websites". The invited students and teachers brought their own projects to the workshop. Mr Kegelmann examined the work of the participants and showed them in an impressive way how to change the design of their projects by means of simple tools (paper and pencil) without losing the individual character of the participants' ideas. The students and teachers were astonished by the results because Mr. Kegelmann succeeded in showing what extraordinary effects can be achieved by using simple but basic methods. Mr Kegelmann is a highly engaged teacher who can motivate and inspire his listeners who at the same time profit greatly for their own way of working efficiently.

3. Testimonial from Annett Klippel (3)
Business at Berufsschule Bamberg
Germany

As a former student at the Staatliche Berufsschule II (Vocational Design School), Bamberg, I'd like to support the nomination of my teacher Mr. Udo Kegelmann, because of his great impact and challenge on young people's lives. In our media-design class he taught us all we had to know about professional design in print and new digital media, e.g. the virtuous use of tools like QuarkXPress, Adobe Illustrator and PhotoShop and all the technical background on Mac and PC computers. He also inspired us not only on focusing the workflow in media development and media production, but also to implement our ideas and grafical concepts into a corporate design system for companies and institutions in all ways of commercial media, such as advertisements, webpages, presentations or CMS. In our German class he showed us how important it is to work with creative techniques to come up with slogans and scripts for ads. I'll also never forget our three-days-trip to Cologne, where our class had the opportunity to visit the International School of Design, participating in workshops and presentations at one of the most outstanding and challenging universities of design all over the country. This university holds partnerships with international schools of design in Scandinavia, France, Italy, Australia and the U.S. .While we were there, we got in contact with scholarship-students from the University of Melbourne. So we had an unforgetable time in exchanging our experiences and getting close to thrilling design-projects with the Australians. I really appreciate Mr. Kegelmann's work and engagement, I'm honoured to write this testimonial and I wish good luck and all the best for his nomination.

With regards,

Annett Klippel

4. Testimonial from Peter Vogel (4)
Teacher High School/Secondary (ages 14-18) at Melanchthon-Gymnasium Nürnberg
Germany

I met Mr. Kegelmann for the first time during my training for “Medienpädagogisch-Informationstechnischer Berater”. He gave an impressive lecture on “hybrid arrangements for learning”. He introduced the subject very efficiently and was able to motivate and carry away his audience to the formulation of the questions. Within the scape of my training I attended a meeting where Mr. Kegelmann introduced the subject of media design. In a highly convincing way and with extremely detailed knowledge he analyzed existing websites. I was in particular impressed by his enormous creativity which enabled him to offer spontaneous topical websites. Mr. Kegelmann’s lectures were most helpful for my field of activity. Finally I want to make mention of the fact that Mr. Kegelmann supported me as a tutor when I was developing a CMS based web portal. He helped me with great efficiency and professionally convincing argumentation. Especially his suggestions on web design have not only inspired me again and again, but have also encouraged me to develop my own ideas. I am indebted to Mr. Kegelmann for good progress in my own work on web sites. I would like to support the suggestion of Mr. Kegelmann’s nomination for the “GSN Online Shared Learning Award” explicitly and wish him well!

5. Testimonial from Marco Kalz (5)
Student at Fernuni Hagen, Germany
Germany

Udo Kegelmann was my university teacher in my master class in educational technology. Udo´s subject in this course were didactical and instructional models for E-Learning. We connected those models and theories to practical usage so it was a very vivid class with a broad theoretical background and very interesting E-Learning-Examples. But Udo is not only an expert in his field, who teaches different instructional theories and methods (for educational technology), he integrates them very well in his courses. So we switched in his class to many different methods, and presentation modes – this was very inspiring for me. I remember this course very well because of the fun we had and the many learning occasions I found in his teaching. Today I often use the material from his master class as a starting point for my research activities. After his course he did a very detailed (self-) evaluation and he got the best grades from his students. Udo is definetly a teacher you rarely find.
