2. Summary of Our Project

The idea to reseach about women in leadership came into our minds when we participated in Techage girls project in the summer. One of the ativities in this project was to reseach the women leaders in our community. It was great to meet with these women, speak to them and know about their achievements and contribution to our country. They are good examples for us. And we decided to move ahead and research the women not only from our society and all around the world as well. First of all we wanted to recognize the role of Jeanna d'Ark, Teresa, Valentina Tereshkova, Klara Zetkin. This is not a full list of the women leaders of the world society. We have chosen these leaders because they have become the first founders and leaders in their sphere of activities. But we have learned much interesting information about different women. We were higly surprised with their life, talants, creativity, kindness, initiative. Especcialy, we admire how they inspire other people by their good examples. It was very important for us to reseach women leaders in our local community. We were impressed by a lot of knowledge, new things, new expierence which we gained during our meetings. One of the goals of our project was to figure out the common things and differences between women leaders of the past and the present. And how we were surprised that their deeds, activity, character were different but leadership traits were the same.

3. Our Computer and Internet Access

A. Percentage of students using the Internet at home:less than 20

B. Number of workstations with Internet access in the classroom:4-6

C. Connection speed used in the classroom:dedicated connection

D. Number of years our classroom has been connected to the Internet:2-3

E. Additional comments concerning your computer and/or Internet access (Optional):

We want to tell you that inspite a lot of difficulties the Educational Internet Center at our school has provided the oppotunity for the students of our school to participate in 'Doors to Diplomacy' for 3 years.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

One of the biggest problem was the sickness of our leader of the project. She had a high blood pressure. And we tried to complete the project successfully ourselves. As you know there is an Educational Internet Center in our school, but our school was closed under complex repair and the students and teachers of our school moved to another school. And communication was hard for us. We found the way to improve the situation and we explained about our project and agreed with the builders. As a result, they sometimes allowed us to come to EIC and participate in the project.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

Our team realize now that leadership is not skills and knowledge. This a style of life- to be ahead and inspire others. Before beginning this project We knew some inspiring women leaders. But the main importance for us that we can become such leaders like they. We need to develop leadership traits and not to be afraid of difficulties and failures simply to learn how to overcome them. After the interviews with the women leaders our team think that we should aim and get them. We got acquainted with the unique people of our local community. We admire them and want to reach such victories and successes in our life. They live not only to live but they serve people and give their soul for their work.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

First we have learned to work in one group. Each of us was given a certain role and did the work. We are the people of four- one team but each of us is a leader. Therefore we tried to respect each others opinions, listen to each other, choose the best decision and conclude to compromiss. We have learned diplomacy of women leaders and developed it in us. We had the opportunity to research the history, geography of the world and our country. We broadened our horizons in the art because we visited museums. We developed our communicative and diplomatic skills. Big achivements were gained in web designing and IT. The prove of it the site which we created ourselves. Of course, we practiced navigation in the internet when searched appropriate information. We have learned to find and define useful resources.

Project Elements

1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your CyberFair project?

We were helped the technical skills which we acquired at the technical trainings and seminars on webdesign, IT last year. Our technical consultants were well expierenced. They taught us how to use Macromedia Dreamweaver, Macromedia Flash, Adobe photoshop and the FTP Program. The main difficult thing in designing was to reach the harmony of the whole site. It's very important that the banner must harmonize with menu, colorful scale. Thanks to a long hard work in the Photoshop, Dreamweaver and gained skills we were able to reach good combination of the whole site. We took pictures with the digital camera when took interviews and visited the museums. Some pictures and photos were scanned. When we had any technical problems our Technical Administrator at our EIC, Vladimir Sergeev, helped to solve them.

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

During reseaching the project we knew very interesting facts and knowledge. And we tried to spread our gained expierence among our classmates, friends, parents, teachers and even the students of the whole Uzbekistan. Recently, we have participated in the Women’s Internet Festival devoted to the 8 March who was organized by the Women’s Resource Center in Tashkent and we participated in different competitions on IT and internet. We shared our new knowledge which we learned from the project “Doors to Diplomacy”. We made presentation about women leaders of the world and the contribution of Klara Zetkin in oraganizing International Women’s Day . In the ealiest days of April our team is going to participate in the seminars on “Leadership” for young techage girls at the University of IT in Nukus. We are given the opportunity to conduct sessions on leadership. New expierence will help us . We would like to note that we had the meeting with the staff in the Women Committee of Karakalpakstan where we discussed our activity and presented about our participation in “Doors to Diplomacy”.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

This project attracted attention to young tech girls who want to develop leadership traits, using good examples of women leaders of the world and local community.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

Our parents were very interested in the project 'Doors to Diplomacy'. Also our helper was our technical administration - Vladimir Sergeev, who advised in designing and made comments. Alia Pirnazarova- operator of the “Hot line” on the project «Combating trafficking in persons in Central Asia/Uzbekistan» MIOM who helped us to organize the meeting with Natalia Abdullayeva and told us about their program. We thank all women leaders who agreed to be interviewed though they are very busy.

5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)

We met unique people who live in our community. We have acquired jounalistic skills when we prepared questions for the interviews and communicative skills how to speak diplomatically and sincerely. Marinika Babanazarova was higly impressed by our ability to take interview. She said: 'A lot of jounalists came to our museum from Tashkent(the capital) and took interviews but your questions are more superior than theirs'. And she was surprised when Alexandra told her own poem 'She is' devoted to the great woman leader. It was a real discovery for us to know about the great women from our community. We knew about their life, job, development of professional carrer, their difficulties and successes. It was great that they have a lot of possibilies to travel around the world at the same time to share their expierence and get new knowledge.
