Project Overview

1. Description of Our Team

“Vision without a task is only a dream. A task without a vision is but drudgery. But vision with a task is a dream fulfilled.” We being the future of tomorrow, of this ever changing world had always painted a vision of designing a website on Great Leaders of the world their traits and characteristic, with our passion to work on this category we thought of focusing on four cardinal aspects of leadership • To lead involves influencing others. • Where there are leaders there are followers. • Leaders seem to come to force, when there are crisis or special problems. They become visible when an innovative response is needed. • Leaders are people who have a clear idea of what they want to achieve and why. We as a team with our group leader Sukanya had a clear perception of what we wanted. We thought creatively in non routine situation so as to influence actions, beliefs and feeling of others. Our team ‘Great Visionaries’ consists of exhilarated, immaculate members with the following characteristics- creativity, imaginative, open-mind ness, responsibility and problem solving, ability adhering to our high value system. We started working together to accomplish our goals. With a clear vision of what can and should be done in the moments of crisis and decision to communicate effectively. We worked diligently under the guidance of our innovative, stirring, and ingenious coach, head of a magnificent institute Ryan international school, gurgaon Mrs.N.M.Parti who cultivated in us the virtues of modesty, humility, obedience and diligence and sincerity. The research work and the visit to the libraries and source center would have not been possible without the competent guidance of our assistant coach Dr.M.Vashist. We were able to scan various primary and secondary sources under her able guidance Sukanya – ace artist. Innovative ideas burst out from her mind. She is a perfect editor. Arushi- is a happy-go-lucky academician who imparted many thought provoking facts to the site. Ashutosh- the typist and creative genius came up with many notions on designing our home page, flash…… Anmol- has been the technician who got the various workings done and downloaded music videos and helped to a great extent in making our interactive section a great success. So the visionaries and believers got together to bridge the gap between vision and reality!!!!

2. Summary of Our Project

History of the world bears a testimony to the great heroes who were born to lead with a new vision and difference. The past is full of instances and heart provoking stories of such commanding champions. Our present is worse than our past. Our present scenario underlines the dire need of a leader, of a savior, who can release our mother earth from the barbed wire of violence, torture, genocide and misery. Refugees’, trafficking in women and children, civil wars, injustice has shrunk the world into a skeleton, and only leader, of a mystical and powerful personality can save us…our earth. It is with this perception and notion in mind that our team members joined hands to produce an illuminant website on profiles in power, a way to open windows into the past and to probe the deeper process of historical change a way to create a leadership role model to meet the greatest challenge with a strong value system. Our website is a novel attempt to undertake a systematic and scientific study of the skills, traits and qualities which prepares an individual for world leadership. The effected leaders are seen as honest, trustworthy and decisive. They are competent visionaries having a sense of direction and purpose.

Our website emphasizes on various themes and the dimensions of leadership on:

a) Theories, styles and qualities, traits b) Competencies and strength of leaders c) Training and task before the leader. d) Making of great leaders e) The primal dimension of leadership and the power of emotional intelligence f) In the case studies of world leaders we have introduced you to some of the greatest men of all times. Taking you on a historical journey. Around the world, from Julius Caesar to J.F.kennedy power abuse during the bloodiest period in American history, from Alexander’s Persian Empire to Hitler’s third Reich, from mahatma Gandhi to Nelson Mandela, these representing figures, extraordinary men who transformed the world with their ideologies and insight.

3. Our Computer and Internet Access

A. Percentage of students using the Internet at home:less than 20

B. Number of workstations with Internet access in the classroom:4-6

C. Connection speed used in the classroom:dedicated connection

D. Number of years our classroom has been connected to the Internet:2-3

E. Additional comments concerning your computer and/or Internet access (Optional):

Our school has pioneered in bringing the concept of multimedia aided education to classrooms. The school maintains “JIL” packages, which comprise clippings as well as textual tidbits related to the chapters. An assortment of videos from biological to theological and archaeological, have been made available. The most remarkable output generated from this package, has been the amalgamation of technology with regular coursework and the ease of adaptability shown by students and teachers alike.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

The journey on the road to success is like walking on the edge of the ledge. We came across hurdles and impediments but never let the fear of failure deter us. The stars shine brightest on the darkest night. Remembered that a diamond cannot be polished to perfection without friction, without the chipping and grinding on the jewelers table. Likewise to reach our full potential, hard work and a little discomfort is imperative. To begin with exploring this topic in a new dimension involved lot of research efforts. We visited various libraries and source center with the help of our assistant Dr. M.Vashist. She has been a great support as she scheduled and arranged all our visits to the libraries. As some of the libraries were not meant for school students we had a tough time pursuing the authorities, our urgent need to access the information. Incorporating the music into the website was another problem which was taken care of by our technical expert. We had problem of contacting people especially academicians scheduling interviews with them because they are busy people and our proposed interview topic needed a good preparatory stage. Another big hurdle for us was to meet the deadlines of our studies and the deadline of our website. As our exams almost clashed with the deadline of the website. Every leader is different in his perspective thoughts and efforts. So it was difficult for us to choose best among the prominent leaders of the world and focus on their traits which made them stood apart from rest.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

Shouting horse from the dais Promises and promises, For food, shelter and cover for everybody But words alone are not sufficient To satisfy the hunger Our leaders have alas! Nothing else to give but Hollow promises, so be it Even one step in the right direction Would make you a leader of the deprived one But honesty and sincerity is required Once small loaf to a hungry mouth Would make you a leader But selfless service is required No demand on the basis of religion. And rise above caste and creed And you would become the leaders Of one an all, of this great world. But all it needs is a sincere and honest heart

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

One thing which hovered on our minds while making this site was to act as both audience and makers that we were making for the receivers of our website overseas. The aphorism of our group members was to create something which was knowledgeable and at the same time very interesting. Most mind boggling task for us was to explore new shores to gain new systems containing pearls of education because our project was something much beyond the ends of our curriculum. We used the C.B.S.E (Central Board of Secondary Education) curriculum as the ‘initiation point' and from their on conducted extensive research by visiting libraries, interviewing experts, and net browsing. The prescribed C.B.S.E curricula for, Psychology, (grades 12) was consulted. Our knowledge of Economics and Statistics assisted us in graphical analysis and surveys; while studying Computer Science and Informatics made us techno-savvy. Our brain storming sessions, division of work of our site organization of tasks made us re-instill our faith in our abilities. One positive side of the whole thing is that we learnt how to take up tasks responsibly and how to accept criticism. We know now how to mould and materialize our thoughts creatively the way we wanted. Since various Introspection and Retrospection were held to realize the true potential and solve the conflict within ourselves. Our curriculum is framed to spark creativity and impart training in leadership building. With the assistance of our teachers we have extended these objectives to be able to meet the challenges of the future with élan.

Project Elements

1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your CyberFair project?

“Once a new technology rolls over you, if you’re not a part of the steamroller, you’re a part of the road.” We used the latest technology and software’s to complete our project. We had accessed the internet through our 128-256 kbps broadband connection at home and five internet able workstations at school. We referred to various online sources regarding website concepts as internet was our key source of information. Also, we referred to many books from the libraries. We used computers with windows XP installed on them, an hp printer, pen drives, headphones, CDS and DVDs at school and at home. We used the following software’s: Microsoft word, internet explorer, Microsoft paint, Microsoft PowerPoint, windows media player and macromedia flash

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

The inquisitive students of our team were engaged in every best effort to reach out to masses. We created a leader’s wall in our school for our fellow mates to know their ideas, imaged perception of future leaders. We also prepared questionnaire for our school parents and our community members on various qualities of statesmanship. We got a fair idea about the way they perceive leadership, its qualities and style. We also organized various competitions for students like poster making, collage, post card designing and debates. Our ideas and thoughts found mention in various journals and newspaper. Our thought provoking articles brought to fore the various mysteries which enveloped in the folds of leadership. We directly interacted with our community members. The cooperation we sought from them while interacting was overwhelming. The people, dignitaries and celebrities we met from different walks of life. We even took part in various events held in our State like DPS mun and RLYA. We now know that being a leader doesn't just mean convincing others although but it means trying to be convinced with what others think as well and working as if you are inspite of being a leader 'one of the people' with great and true leadership qualities The lineage of which we are a part of is on the horizon of evil and good. History has stood seeing the leaders who have dedicated all their powers into wars and futile disputes. But if we want our future can be better. Our site has been one such step in that direction. Through this project we have experience the making of various leaders in various circumstances which we were not familiar. It also helped us to see the psychological and emotional aspects of leaderships.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

The supreme function of statesmanship is to provide against preventable evil. In seeking to do so it encounters obstacles which are deeply rooted in human nature

After successfully completing the task of great visionaries our hopes have taken an optimistic flight that our thoughts will connect with the heart of community of our generation who can turn into the much acknowledged leaders of their times. Our team is confident of the fact that after viewing our website people will be compelled to wear their thinking caps and will surely be concerned regarding those hands into whose grip they will be giving their tomorrow which will happen at every level of our social organization be it a community group state or nation the state men of the present would never like to repeat the mistakes of history. For us this venture has been the best platter till date. It gave us food for thought which helped us in satisfying our hunger of scaling new heights to a great extent. We have now tasted a education beyond the covers of our text books. We conducted a fieldwork from every aspect-be it philosophical, psychological emotional or social. Our aim which is very much evident from our site is to create leaders for tomorrow who are instilled with all the required traits and skills so that they can unwrap their motherland from the suffocating plastic of misery. The turn of the twentieth century mark the turn of the millennium but it would not be wrong to say that the eras still now have been the most momentous. Undisputedly these leaders shaped this change of several years through their philosophy and the weapon of words. Some of them were saints, some were sinners and some were dictators. Our project emphasizes the need to know all types of leaders and to learn their approaches for the benefit of human kind in the coming years.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

Our zestful team made use of every opportunity that came their way to interact with people for collecting our source of study. We tried to connect with people via internet to get a feedback from them on our work. For us this project was like searching new shores of information to explore new deep sea of information. We express our heartiest gratitude to our teacher-coach Mrs. N.M.Parti and Manisha Vashisht who acted as a guiding light and encouraged us at every step of our work. Our principal mam who has been our mentor and educationist inspired us and inculcated in us values to be successful in whatever we do. And giving us this opportunity to unwrap our skills at the global front. Our parents for their valuable support. This distinct help of people opened the lid our perception. We are also pleased with the attempts of students who participated in the various competitions we organized. Without their involment our interactive section would have not been an achievement. People who agreed to give their consent for their interview are also very dispensable to this section. We acknowledge the efforts of every person who gave a shape to this site our vision realistic to exploit our geniuses.

5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)

The world has seen good and evil leaders in its past and seeing the strength and weaknesses of these; we have realized that the world is in a dire need of a good leadership role model. And he would be the one who will way all the pros and cons of any given situation. And aim for the bull’s eye. We even discovered that Buddha had a great appeal for Nehru. In fact it was more than an appeal- a truly romantic fascination for the principles Buddha stood for. Nehru sincerely believed that ‘it is essentially through the message of the Buddha we can look at our problems in the right perspective and draw back from conflict and from competing with one another in the realm of conflict, violence and hatred. This project helped us to have broader insight of our strengths and weaknesses. It helped us to realize even we as youth ambassadors can create great differences to this society.
