Project Overview

1. Description of Our Team

Our team is made of five (5) boys all of age of 18. We attend the same class in Gymnasium Mesa Selimovic. We are good freinds and all good at computers and web design. That is main reason we joind together to do this project. This project is an opporunity to us to show the world something about our country, Bosnia and Herzegovina. We had different jobs to do. Edin and Vedad prepared material and translated it in English. Adnan and Emir were obligated to do the design, and Enver did the graphics and pictures on the site. Our teacher, Midhat, did a great job in motivating us and providing ideas and suggestions to our work.

2. Summary of Our Project

Our project tellsthe world on a modern way, by web and Internet, about economy status in Bosnia and Herzegovina. We provided information about different branches of economy such as industry, tourism, agriculture etc. We gave general information about our country, so the people who do not know anything about Bosnia can have picture of it in their mind.

3. Our Computer and Internet Access

A. Percentage of students using the Internet at home:21-50%

B. Number of workstations with Internet access in the classroom:2-3

C. Connection speed used in the classroom:dedicated connection

D. Number of years our classroom has been connected to the Internet:2-3

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

At thye beginning we had problem of finding information that is to be put on our site. Then when we found it, we had to translate it and that took a long time to do. However, two of us are excelent in english and with help of dictionaries we solve this proble.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

We are proud to tell the world about our country. This means a lot to us because, as far as we know, there are very few information on Bosnia's economy available on Internet, especially in English.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

All the information are first hand information, so this is very much accurate and precise web site. It teaches about Bosnian economy. People all over the world and even in Bisnia itself do not know as much about economy in Bosnia as we provided with this site, so this site is very educational and needed in our society. Doing this project we all learned smoething about our country that we did not know. We practiced out old skills of web design and tried something new as well. We improved our English skills. We learnt how to cooperate and do things together. We did different things and when we put them together they worked as one piece! Senior graders learn about Bosnia. This might be web site for their paper and homework resource. Teachers are proud of us as much aswe are. They say we did a great job and that this might help Bosnian students or teach foreigners about Bosnia. This is a great way of learning because it is more interesting and easier. People come to the web site surfing the Internet and they see something they did not know. That makes them interested in it so they take their time and try to learn someting.

Project Elements

1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your CyberFair project?

We have 3 "good" computers connected to Internet in our classroom, so we splitted the jobs into groups and did most of it at home and just put it together at school. We would not succeed without telephones because we had to call each other a lot during the research. Internet was the main source of out information but the dictionary was our "bible" for past few weeks. We had to translate the texts. We used few articles from few magazines that were really good to put onto our web site. Each teem member has a personal computer with Internet connection at home, so we could do this researh with minimal problems. The most valuable tools were computers with Internet connection and dictionary of course. Whole job was done on the computer(getting information, writing it, building a web page etc.), but dictionary was the tool without which our web site would not be done. We used modern software, but we were based on HTML programming so that did not even matter. Internet was the most helpful technology because we used it in 80% of our research and project building.

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

Economical status of Bosnia is not on a high level. These information will raise awarenessabout that, and of course, teach people about current situation in the country. Sudents did a great job preparing all this material and they are now aware about this situation and they have knowledge about Bosnia and about importance of international affairs. These students are more that prepared to promote Bosnia, teach people about it and represent our country proudly. Other students supported us and commented our work. Those comments were positive, and we are glad about it. We are all proud of the web we built and we are planning to stay together as a team and renew it and work even harder on it, ouside of this contest.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

We think this project is very positive and it has a teaching content. It is not smoething that has to change poples mind, but to teach them about Bosnian's economy. Maybe, when people in chage see how low the level of Bosnian economy is, they might do something about that. But they know it and they are working on it and progress is expected. Basicly this site is created to show the world the situation in Bosnia. People, not only from our community but from whole world, learnt and will learn from this web site. Our web site is up on Interned hardly fo 24 hours but we expect it will be visited at least by 5 people every day. We are still expecting feedback and comments, but we recieved werbal comments from school stuff and students. They say that this site is great source of information for their papers and homeworks, and they could learn from it what they did not know. They found it very interesting.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

Most of the suggestions came from our students and teachers and team members. We all worked on the idea, organization and building this project. Some students, ouside of the team helped us to find information and material. Our web designer received help about web designig and HTML coding from ou friends that are good at it. Whatever they did to help us, even if it were the words "we can not help you" or "we do not know", we thank them so much. We tahnk all of them who said they liked our web site because that was the best tu hear.

5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)

This project was great fun to us all. It was great experience and a bound-making excitement. We learnt about Bosnian economy so many things and we are very happy to teach people those things and that is the greatest thing of this project.
