1. Description of Our Community
Nei Men was called “Luo Han Men” or “Luo Han Wun” but the locals called it “Nei Wun”. It means literati get together here. There is one proverb says, “Jiou Wan Shih Ba Cian, Ba Siou San Gong Sheng”, describes there are so many literati and many of them get chosen during the government test. Also, Cuei Wun Academy locates in Nei Men Township and it is just an evidence to prove Nei Men is a cultural place.
2. Summary of Our Project
Nei Man Township in Kaohsiung County was called “Luo Han Men” because it is surrounded by mountains and in this kind of landforms, it’s limited to crop. Because of this, around fifty years ago, our ancestors went visite the chefs in Tainan and learnt the skills for life. After they learnt, they came back and started the Banto Business. Since then, more and more people were doing this business and till now, Luo Han Men-Nei Men Township is the township which has more chefs than the others. According to the survey we did, there are more than 100 chefs doing this job in this township. Chefs in Nei Men Township provide good food with cheap price and becomes popular and famous in south Taiwan. If there’s any celebration or funeral, you can see the chefs there. We wanted to discover the Banto Culture in Nei Men Township as well as history and development of Chefs and we also wanted to experience being a chef and know its education environment. We all hope that this business could go the rounds forever.

E. Additional comments concerning your computer and/or Internet access (Optional):
We have a computer classroom in school and there are about 16 computers. Students are free to use them during the break time and connect the world via the internet provided by school. The internet signal is stable and school provides enough space for us to use. It also helps a lot during the winter break because not every of us has internet at home but even so, there were still a few students using the internet at home for more detail.
4. Problems We Had To Overcome
Contact and interview: To have a better idea of the project, we were zealous for contacting each great chef by phone and also the volunteer mothers put a lot of work on it but because of the busy schedule, most of the interviewees couldn’t promise. Here we want to thank each one who had helped us and therefore, we can’t treat it lightly. For the website making: We did spend a lot of time deciding the structure and toolbar for a better link and interface. We discussed each question, tested every color on words, designed different kinds of bottoms and backgrounds etc…. We went through many problems especially using the software; we did have a hard time on it. Thanks for teacher’s help and finally we did get it done and had an outstanding website.
5. Our Project Sound Bite
Nei Men Township in Kaohsiung County is famous for the Zhong-Po-Shai and during the interviews, we were shocked to know that the chefs needed to do many works and it was really a hard job and we never knew this before the interview. Slowly, we learnt more about the job and the details by interviewing them and found out that they worked hard and were responsible. I don’t think we can easily take and understand what they had put on their shoulders but step by step, we learnt and knew more and also realized how happy I am and this would be a biggest lesson I’ve learnt from this project.
6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?
The purpose of Nine-Year Joint Curricula Plan is to make the education more adaptable to strengthen the share resources network of family, school and community. As a part of the community, we should put more efforts on advertising my hometown and inspiring habitant’s willing to learn, organize and improve the ability of adaptation. But what we had tought at school couldn’t really find out if students need help or run into troubles. In a high tech age now, Internet can reach everywhere and through this research project, we could prove the Information Education of Nine-Year Joint Curricula Plan helps students to learn in an equitable environment-means the better information you have, the better result you get. So students are learning in an education environment of ability, not intelligence. So we use the ability of getting knowledge, doing research, analyzing and organizing to realize the ideal of reaching everywhere. No matter in class or in life, teacher always teaches us to help people, care the community and this time, doing the project of Luo Han Men Zhong-Po-Shai, helps to know more about the community.
