1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your CyberFair project?
In the web designing competition, we have used several tools as follows: Telephone, digital video, digital camera, computer, Internet, software, e-mail, u disk, library, books and questionnaires. The telephone and e-mail are used to contact and exchange materials. The digital video and digital camera are used to collect data. The u disk is to store the materials. Some software is used in word processing, picture processing and web designing. All of the above tools are provided by our teachers and students. The teachers, leaders and our parents have given us a lot of help in the activity. What is the most valuable to us is the computer. It can help us store materials, communicate with each other and exchange materials between us. The software is also very important to us, which apply several kinds of technology such as word processing, picture processing and data collecting, as well as helping us to design the web of its own characteristics.
2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.
Feeling as ambassador We love our hometown so much that sometimes we burst into tears. West, Ningxia and Shizuishan, all of which sometimes stand for poverty and backwardness. However, in our eyes, our hometown is so beautiful such as the red goji, white fir, tombs of the emperors of Xixia Dynasty, Lingwu Dinosaur Fossil, all of which make us proud of our hometown. We want to show the beautiful hometown to all of the other people.
3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?
We have learned a lot from this activity. In the first place, in only one month in taking part in the activity, we have sensed the great love from Town and Talent Co., Ltd. As the students in western school, we have to try our best to complete our task. All of the people help us with the activity such as the teachers and colleagues. All of us want to make our own contributions to the hometown. In the second place, although our teachers are quite busy every day, all of us try our best to complete our task, from which we can see the great power of union. Our students also have learned a lot from the activity. Not only have they learned advanced technology, but they also have a better understanding of our school and love our school more than before. The greatest significance of this activity is turning a class of lower scores and bad discipline into a good class. The students have regained their confidence of themselves. Through this activity, all the 54 students in the class have grown up and improved their abilities. In the meantime, we have changed the attitude of our parents: score is first and changed their attitude towards their children. We have not only saved ourselves but also saved other people!From the web, all the other people at home and abroad can see the western China is changing greatly and the schools there are also developing including our concept and our facilities. A new stronger area in education is developing in the western China!
4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?
Although education cannot solve all the problems, it can indeed make some effects as long as we do not give up. The educators should make good use of the atmosphere and opportunity to educate their students. All the students can be changed better and better. Although some students have many bad habits, they also have beautiful wishes, because all the human beings are kind in nature. The so-called “bad students” particularly needs the appreciation and love of their parents and their teachers. I can tell you a true story. A boy was born a strabismus, so he is self-abased, sensitive and irritable. When I become his teacher at first, I find it is really the case. Through the communication with the classmates and his mother, I come to understand he likes painting very much and he is quite good at it. Therefore, on the exhibition of the students’ special skills, I first ask him to show us his paintings. I find he is deeply moved by his classmates. From then on, he becomes kinder and kinder, more and more polite, which makes the relationship better and better between him and the teachers and other students. In fact, the person who is happiest is his mother. She has also changed a lot: she does not blame him any more and she loves her son more than before… As a matter of fact, the mother of so-called “bad student” should also be encouraged and appreciated. They have also experienced a lot of hardships. The task is heavy and the road is long in the education of mental health of middle school students. All the people in our society should pay more attention to this issue!
5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)
In the activity, we have had a lot of interviews such as personal interviews, or by telephone, by e-mail, most of which are by telephone and e-mail. What impresses us most is the communication with the parents of so-called “bad students”. Every time we talk about this topic, we feel a little depressed, because we have sensed the love as well as even the hate of parents towards their children. When Miss Zhang tells the parents: “Your son is better and better”, “Your child will have a bright future” and “I have confidence of your child”, the fathers and mothers are quite happy with the tears in their eyes. Under the guide of Miss Zhang, all of the students in Class Twelve are shouldering our responsibilities. The encouragements by our teachers and parents have stimulated us to make more and more progress in the future.
