1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your CyberFair project?
Our personal computer was a very big help in making our project. In our computers, we have installed software that we needed in making the website. We used softwares such as Macromedia Dreamweaver 8 for creating the website, Macromedia Flash 8 for making the animation in our website and Adobe Photoshop for editing the images used in the website. We also used gadgets such as cameras and cameras for taking pictures when we interviewed the people in Prinza River, BF Resort Clubhouse and Las Piñas Arts and Crafts Center.
We have gathered some of the information of our website through the internet. There were news about the festival in the Official Site of Las Piñas and the Official Website of Congresswoman Cynthia Villar. Also, we had a personal interview with the weavers making the baskets used in the festival.
2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.
Through our personal interview with the people involved in the festival, we have acted as ambassadors for our Cyberfair project. We did not only represent our Cyberfair project but our school, as well. We went to different places and met a lot of different people. It was really a good thing that these people are very friendly and hospitable. They’ve welcomed us with open arms. We’ve asked a lot of questions regarding our topic and they’ve answered us very well.
3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?
Our project made a huge impact to our community. Many people coming from different places in the Philippines gather to witness the said festival. Through our project, we are advertising the Water Lily festival, and now it is well known by other people, from children to adults. We helped in making Las Piñas more progressive in terms of tourism and economy
4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?
In gathering information, we have asked for the help of many people. We asked the permission of the officers in the Clubhouse to let us gather information for the festival and they approved of it. Also, the weavers that we have interviewed are very friendly and accommodating. They have answered our questions well. Without these people, our website will not be complete. Almost all of the information we have put in our website are the information we got from them.
5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)
This is our first time in doing a website that will be our school’s entry for the Cyberfair competition. In making our website, we learned and discovered a lot of things. All of us became one in making this project and, thus, made us a lot closer. Not only did we discovered all about the Waterlily Festival, which is our topic, but we also discovered a lot from each of the member of the group who participated in making this website possible. We learned the value of teamwork.
We learned that there are still a lot of things, which our community- Las Piñas City can be proud of. In fact, this Waterlily Festival is really amazing. Out of a not-so-useful waterlily, Las Piñas residents were able to make a livelihood project, which is the basket weaving. The basket created were made of dried waterlilies.
