Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

Shangyi is located in northwest Hebei province where is the juncture of Ji,Jin and Meng province, the golden zone between northwest and Inner Mongolia and at the junction of Ji,Jin,Meng and Ji,Jing,Jin. It is 288km from Beijing. The domestic natural style is different between south and north. It is divided into dam and under dam two geomorphic units. The average altitude is 1300m. It belongs to continental monsoon climate in temperate semiarid areas. There are four seasons, sufficient sunlight, air is fresh, the rain heat over the same period, annual temperature is 3.5? and average annual rainfall is 3.5 413.6 mm. It is a ideal natural summer resort when we can’t bear hot in south as its cool and comfortable climate.

2. Summary of Our Project

Wind power as a kind of clean and renewable energy, is more and more concerned by people all over the world. Shangyi is an agricultural county and it was listed in the national poverty alleviation county since the early 1990s. The wind resource has been become valuable wealth of Shangyi, wind power industry has been become development hope of Shangyi. We want to do our best for ShangYi, Leading economic development in hometown and making the local economy prosperity.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

The first problem we met is production technology in the process of making home pages. In order to solve this problem, on one hand teacher Fu asked administrator from Qianxiangwancai for help, one the other hand strengthen the communication between school and members with CISS platform and QQ, question is solved basically. Secondly, we had no chance to get into the internal computer room of wind-power in the interview process and we were prohibited taking photos as it was commercial secrets. Even though we didn’t take photos into computer room through the coordination of headmaster and teacher Fu, they told us much knowledge about wind-power with wind model and provided some books for our reference.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

The game is our second journey. We know nothing at beginning. But we start at zero and establish the firm belief. We collect the information through hard work. Although web is done very rough, but our work has been finished finally. We feel more that people are brought to the same spirit in harmonious society except for the characteristic resources we learnt in hometown and a lot of knowledge outside textbook. We will never forget and it will also benefit for life.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

The main purpose of attending the nets expo's is to cultivate emotion of loving home, propaganda hometown. So we add 'hometown development with my relationship' in our school-based curriculums in order to make more students know 'Hometown development is everyone’s duty' and cultivate master consciousness of students. They not only love home more, but also decide to contribute for their hometown. They will get a lot from it.

1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your CyberFair project?

Computer, digital camera, tape recorder, scanner, SD card, card reader, pads. Computer software: Photoshop picture processing, Microsoft Word text information editing, Microsoft Excel Internet Explorer web browsing, ACDSee photos browsing, cutting, Ftp transmitting data. Website network: MSN exchanges, email, web BBS, FTP Server, ADSL broadband Internet access.

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

This is the second time that our group represents the third middle school in Shangyi to take part in this inquiry activity. It is our mission to advertize wind power construction in hometown, introduce environment in hometown and people. It is our duty to propose people all over the world that we should love environment, protect environment and use environment in a reasonable way. The three students who take part in special project should interview relevant personage and places with unity cooperation as environmental publicity ambassadors on Sunday or holiday. Then make up interview material on time and explain interview experience and environmental new understanding in the students. We will penetrate our thought 'loving home, protect the environment', propagandize our research program, let more people to take part in the activity.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

Many people helped us in this activity process. Wherever we went, they would open a green light for us. More students realize that with the historical vicissitudes, economic development, hometown in change, 'FengHai' is turned into the wind treasure have become the main financial income in our county through this activity; more classmates start like wind, there many classmates start planning to go to wind school the next year after graduation through this activity; we are all very glad that some people in society began to change the idea and support wind business development through this activity. It is really so-called: 'the laborer, so he shall reap.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

The creation of 'golden wind into every family' page isn’t completed without the help of warm-hearted around us, ZhangYingHua teacher who comes from Qianxiangwancai company, teachers from brother member school, computer teachers in our school, local farmers and wind-power employees who provide material explain knowledge for us. Our web page just was finished smoothly with their warmly help.

5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)

I am excited that it is the second time to take part in international web bo expo game. This was a great encouragement that we got award at the first time in 2010.Teacher Fu counsels the students continuous attended three-time tournament, so we are assured a lot. We collected enough information through cooperating with each other more than one month. So we began to perfect web content based on structure concrete. After we finished it preliminary, although teachers assessed our web frame was good, but was not beautiful, and the idea of county framework isn’t clear, there is a problem in partial hyperlink, it is not clearly of homepage. Then it was smooth with our teacher’s direction. With teacher’s help, we corrected it again and again and the web site is more beautiful, more accurately, objectives and contents were more definite. All in all, we not only felt happiness of successful but also happiness of cooperation through participating in the nets expo creating our own web pages of this process.
