1. Description of Our Community

My hometown is located at the southwest part of Chengdu Plain. It’s a beautiful place with long history.Our hometown is a place with beautiful scenery and rich resources. The main agricultural products are rape, orange, fish, tea, etc. Xilai Town is taken as the core to develop rural tourism.

2. Summary of Our Project

After over a month of investigation, interviewing, material collecting and sorting, we have finished the task on time. Our hometown has been heavily promoted and people have been taught to cherish lives, protect environment, love their own hometown and welcome guests from all directions with warm heart.

Use the same education network. The school now possesses a computer room equipped with 36 computers, which is able to meet the basic requirements of teachers and students.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

During the investigations and interviews, students’ schedule of study clashed with that of interviews, so we had to coordinate with all parties to fix interviews at weekends and communicate with relevant department to gain their support.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

The ancient town has its own ancient tradition, old story, traditional culture and abundant local special products. Now people are living a life of higher standard. However, a large quantity of waste is produced during constructing. At the same time, we should strive to protect the environment for the sake of our health. And everybody should contribute his effort to make the earth young forever and make it the beautiful homeland of human beings. Everybody should fulfill his obligations and start from minor things around to make our hometown more beautiful.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

After having finished study, students used weekends to do the research on the projects of Internet Exposition. In this way, students got colorful extra-curricular life and got improvement in social practical ability as well.

1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your CyberFair project?

We mainly made use of internet as well as mobile phone and other communication tools.

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

We carried on the project by holding activities. In addition, we acted as ambassadors to carry out publicity activities and hand out publicity material during holiday period.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

Through propaganda, we all have realized the importance of the environment and that we should carefully protect the environment while developing economy. We have also contacted with the leaders of the town and gained their support. They have allowed us to be the volunteers to protect local environment.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

With substantial support from local people who provided us relevant instruments and cooperated with us in interviews, our work went smoothly.

5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)

We have learned a lesson from the activity -- Things should be done in an orderly manner. And at the same time, we should pay attention to every detail with patience. Everything can be finished on time as long as it is done on schedule.
