1. Description of Our Community

We are all ninth graders from the same class. We have made the reports about Taitung twice.Therefore , we got a clearer picture of Taitung and love it more than before . We hope that more people can learn about the story of Taitung through our efforts.

2. Summary of Our Project

We have lived in Taitung since we were born. We know that the scenery in Taitung is very beautiful. However , it’ s not convenient to get to Taitung. So people often think that Taitung is an undeveloped place. We hope that our website can promote the beauty of Taitung and everyone can know and love Taitung.

3. Our Computer and Internet Access

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

The first problem we encountered was the shortage of computers,so we borrowed laptops from the school. The second problem we encountered was with the difficulty in translating Chinese into English. Many things related to the unique Taiwanese culture have no equivalent in English. To overcome this problem we consulted out foreign English teacher for help with translation. In some cases we used Hanyu Pinyin to transliterate the words without equivalence in English followed by an explanation of what the word refers to.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

In the International Schools CyberFair we understand that communication is important.Because let people who have different languages with us understand and do not have mistakes is difficult.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

We not only get more familiar with cooperation but also improre our English during the process. Alsowe have a more in-depth understanding of our hometown. We visit many place in Taitung interview local people. We understand the idea of more people and their ideas. Then we deseribe their ideas in our words. International race Cyberfairwe distribute all the items to different groups. Each groups is responsible for one specific. Besides discusing our own topic with In grou[we also participate in other groupsand help each other. The best part during the discussion is the union –of the wwhole class. It’s really an amazing experience. Q2:How did this project fit into your required school, district, or state curriculum guidelines? We are citizen of Taiwan. We got better understanding of our hometown,and we join many folk activities and enjoy delicious food. We have been the passive learners since we were in kindergarten. The period of school life passive learning may be people’s habitsbut to participate in a variety of actuvutues and competitions, we found you learn something after experiencing it yourself. Q8:Has using the Internet for teaching and learning been more effective than traditional methods? If so, explain?

1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your CyberFair project?

It’s quite convenient to tesch and learn through the Internet. When we have an idea at any time,we can get on the Interner and post our thoughts. We can share and duscuss the ideas with everyone on the Net. Google online for the information we need integrate all the information write it down in our words,print the report copy the report.

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

We learn how to find out the key points fron a lot of messed jinformation and how to make 0ia record. AT the same time,we also practice our writing and communication skills. We have the chance to learn something which is unfamiliar to us during the process of making our website. So,we can surpass our selves.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

Our project will let everyone recognize Taitung and understand the problem and the story of Taitung. Some people say they have learned a lot of things from our website. Some foreigners also say that our website is good. They can know what they can do in Taitung. We make a good working relationship with people in our community. We also make a good working relationship with the people who also provide service. They care us and browse our website. Sometimes when we provided service, we got the card. Also the people may give us some suggestions. Our website use the simple character and picture, let the different people can understand Taitung.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

Mr.Woggon ,Ms.Yang and Ms.Yu ,all of them are our teachers in school. Ms.Yang is our class instructor. She helps us with Chinese writing. Mr.Woggon is our English teacher from the U.S. And Ms.Yu is our English teacher. They help us translate Chinese into English. When we have any question on translation of our project ,they help us in any way and give us a suggestion. We often discuss with them. They help us to find the way on our reports. Thanks for all of teachers who help us. Without you ,we can’t do it much better.

5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)

In the project, I learn the important of cooperation. The thing looks difficult, but after division of work the thing becomes easy and can be done quickly. I also learn the health is important. Even you are busy, you must take good of your health. If you do not do that, you can not do anything without a healthy body.
