1. Description of Our Community
With rich and productive plains covered bright green crops make Wandan unsophisticated and graceful. Over the past three hundred years, there’s saying goes, “Pingtong used to be called A-Gao, and Wandan was the first street built at that time,” which indicated the prosperity of Wandan used to be. Wandan in Pinpu aboriginal language means markets. With resourceful paddy rice, pasturage, and sea-farming, Wandan is also an important place of production of red beans. People in Pingtong started to cultivate red beans around 1960s. People of Wandan took the seeds from A-Li Mountain, Chiayi, cultivated and exported successfully to Japan. Soon many counties in Pingtong have the craze of cultivating red beans.
2. Summary of Our Project
Perhaps we do not need to as sympathetic as Tsao in his poem, but we learn to cherish friendship as Wang did in his poem. Round shaped with bright red colored beans are quite useful in many ways. People often use red beans as decorations or as a taken of one’s love. With sunny and cloudless weather in Wandan, the red beans are very thin but large, easy to cook and taste soft, which make them appropriate for many cuisines. It is hoped to make more people know the benefits of red beans in this project.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome
Before joining Taiwan School Cyberfair with my classmates, this is special team work of senior and junior students. Our team members are first grade and second grade schoolmates. Originally, inheritance is so difficult that we have to teach step by step. Some easy teaching junior schoolmate jobs make us crazy. That is why we can understand teachers’ greatness and painstaking. Moreover, first and second grade students encounter time limits and lessons pressure and certification test. They have to learn and adapt heavy lessons. Everyone has to face brand new challenging. However, we learn “ the more we learn, the more intelligence we gain” from the team cooperation. No matter difficult the process is, only when you work hard and preserve would be cost worthy of. That will be good inheritance of experience.
5. Our Project Sound Bite
“ Knowing the difficult of Not matter how intelligent and rich a man is, you still can’t live a lonely life.” You have to accept everyone’s help and promotion. So, when you reach achievement, except the relevant red bean cake knowledge. We also learn the spirits of cooperation in the team. Thank teachers for instruction. Thank partners for fighting for the project. Then we also thank Wantan uncles for letting us know the importance of appreciation.
6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?
Because of this program, students have the chance to work together and learn to funtion a teamwork. Except the knowledge lecturing from the textbooks, they learned practical life experience. Students usually use their free time or break time to take care of the plants of red beans. This is totally a brandnew experience for them, thanks to the Internet, they could easily get instruction and suggestions online.
