Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

Shangyi County, a myth place with a reputation of the North Gate of Beijing, the capital of China, located at the Southside of the Mongolian Plateau, has the population of 200 thousand living on more than 2600- square- meter beautiful high land. The people, who nurtured by a long civilization of Chinese culture, has earned its style as simplicity, generousness, diligence, courtesy and hospitality. Shangyi is located in the northwestern part of Hebei and in Bashang on the southern edge of Inner Mongolia Plateau, enjoying convenient transportation conditions with National Highway 207 and Dongshang Highway trans throughout, making it the keypoint of communication between the north and the south as well as connecting Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Shanxi and Inner Mongolia. Shangyi is 288km away from Beijing, with an average altitude of 1300m and a continental monsoon temperate semiarid climate, featuring distinct seasons, sufficient sunshine, fresh air with rain heating up the corresponding period and an average annual temperature of 3.5? as well as an average annual precipitation of 413.6mm. Whenever the South encounters intolerable heat, this place is with cool breeze blowing and a pleasant climate, making it an ideal natural summer resort. Shangyi has rich land resources and unique climate, is suitable for high-quality vegetable cultivation and crop nutrient accumulation and quite appropriate for the development of livestock breeding. What’s more, Shangyi also features unique tourism resources and eco-tourism, owning three types of tour, including ethnic customs, cultural history, and ecological tourism. Convenient transportation conditions and communication, ample electric power, and abundant labor resources all create a favorable investment environment for open-end Shangyi.

2. Summary of Our Project

We understand the tray management in our school through this research, and we understand the personality of teacher Huang. Team members went to the lab and the instrument room many times to interview teacher Huang, experienced the raw material collection and production process of the tray. The deeds of Huang were preach in students, it not only led more students to concern about the activities of the tray but also let them love and respect for teachers in the school. Through the publicity of the event, some parents and primary school graduates learn more about our school from understanding Huang, more sixth grade graduates next year will be attracted in my school to read.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

Our interviewee is a teacher in the school in this activity, so it is convenient for us to have a smooth interview. but in the event, the greatest difficulty we have encountered is that the Internet is too slow to upload the information, (because of network transformation, most of the computers are wireless), in the process of collecting, collating and creating web pages, the school network is often dropped, the content cannot be uploaded successfully several times, and the information is not saved, so we have to start all over again, wasting a lot of time, in order to solve this problem, we mainly took two ways: first compiled the interview material in WORD, and then uploaded to the Internet; second staggered the more concentrated period. Therefore, we generally upload data in the study up, the problem has been resolved. Sometimes because we have to collate information, so we are delayed on the study, which would be complained by some class teachers, but we will prove to the teachers with the excellent results that we did not drop the course. We should not only create web pages seriously but also improve our learning.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

To participate in the activities we have experienced too much, in order to let more people respect teacher Huang and love our school, we have asked Huang teacher for many times, and let her taught us how to make a tray? How to thought 'Tray-type' management creativity? What benefits has been brought of this management? And personally experienced the shows of physics, chemistry teacher in the classroom, experimental teacher walked into the classroom, in order to be acquainted with the tray instrument management better, teaching office was at the full support of our activities, they organized experimental operation in the multipurpose restaurant. The people who give us help, hope and support maybe did not think they have done a very significant thing, because of their participation, so that more the more students feel the charm of Huang'

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

In the classroom teaching, we are mainly learning some basic knowledge. Practical activities are mainly carried out in this thematic research, we combine the knowledge we have learned on the class with experimental lesson, we not only experience the tray which has brought convenience for us but also try to collect the tray, make up the experimental apparatus. Our school organized the experimental skills game, all in all, it cannot be completed by a few people, there are many beloved teachers and cute students around us, there are a lot of people who support us. In this activities, we not only master computer knowledge but also exercise social practice. Although we encountered some difficulties along the way, we learn the knowledge we never learned in the classroom, we are more favorite with physical and chemical and admire our teachers more, in short, we benefit a lot from this activity.

Project Elements

1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your CyberFair project?

1 server, 60 clients, 10M fiber optic access the Internets, Windows XP operating system. The participating students all come from rural area and they had no computer at home. They usually used their spare time to complete their tasks in the student computer room while the instructors spent their weekends and break time on the tasks.

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

Our activity groups is the second time to participate in the exploration activities, It's our honor, we feel the heavy responsibility on the shoulders. As the ambassadors of 'concentric communicate', the interview as the main way, in order to carry forward the spirit of unity and cooperation of the group, we interviewed the characters and laboratory instrument room on Sundays and extracurricular activities, and the interview material was collected in a timely manner, explained interview experience in the students, had a meeting in the class, to promote our research program to sixth-grade students and parents, to allow more people to participate in the activities, understanding Huang, understand the third middle school in Shangyi. In this practical activity, we all know the power of the individual is impossible, only teamwork can achieve the final victory.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

Huangyoujin has studied experimental teaching aids and 'tray' management in nearly 30 years of time, making contribution for the teaching management in the third middle school in Shangyi, so that all the people who contacted with him admired him, this people has become one of the topics in school. He plays the role of 'words and deeds, due diligence and dedication,' the work which was assigned by leadership should do best, the work which was assigned by peers should do on time, the questions which was asked by students should be careful….under the effect of teacher Huang, More the students know selfless contribution, the sense of responsibility, and know how to love the school, all of these is inseparable from the close contact with Huang and the depth of understanding. Through the studies, the more students know that labor is the most glorious, more careful in the experiment experimental equipment. Let us cheer for teacher Huang! Cheer for beautiful and practical 'tray' of teacher Huang!

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

We research was finally completed, Looking back on these days, we felt nostalgia. Because of this event, we contacted with many teachers whom didn’t teach us, they sacrificed a lot of time to help us complete the research project, The teacher Lei was the administrator of the computer room, he supported our activities very much, in order to completed the research project, he allowed us to go to the computer room to collect information in spare time, and we thank him. School teaching office and physic teacher, chemistry teacher and biology teacher offered great support for our promotional research project, to carry out publicity of the research project and the participation of students in the school smoothly, they arranged experimental lessons for us. Also thank passion reception teacher Huang for our many interviews, we got a lot of information about thematic research, and it is convenient for us to record and photography, successfully won the time for our research project. Our guidance counselor and school leadership helped us throughout the track. The teachers care is necessary in every step. All members of this research project thanks to them!
