Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

Yongdeng county is rich in natural resources, enjoys great reputation for it’s famous “The valley of metallurgy”. There are more than 100 varieties of wild plants, including rose, peas and beans etc.., known as the town of rose. Wild animals are deer, pig, horse, roe deer and otter. Yongdeng county has a vast territory, its farmland accumulates 139 million mu. County’s available cultivable land per person is double than the average national level. Lanzhou Zhongchuan airport is in the Yongdeng county, Lan-Xin Railway,National Highway 312,109 ; passing through the area of county.

2. Summary of Our Project

Through exploration, practice process, the students can solve specific problems in real life with existing knowledge and experience, feeling happy from self study and independent thinking. In Webpage hands-on production process, learning knowledge, mastering the basic skills of the information technology, strengthen the cooperation and exchange of the team consciousness. Because we are all students of grade nine, so we have a little time, the traffic is not very convenient, RenShou mount and the archives is more than 30 km from the school, a lot of information are unable to obtain, and the weather here has turned cold, the flowers and trees in scenic spots have been dead, it is a pity that we can't get ideal photos in this activity. A month has been passed imperceptibly, I know this time is very busy, we all feel very tired, however, see the results of our labor, each team member is very happy, after the event we not only learned related content about Webpage production, but also understood RenShou mount with this opportunity, from different angles to understand the relevant content of Taoist activities. When we saw our works, we thought that our efforts were not in vain, it is value to publicity for historical monuments. Come to think of it, since we completed it successfully, we should learn to cherish. Everyone in our team is excellent, and we can not deny the ability of each person, so I hope that everyone can feel the joy of success. Hope that this competition gave us a power forward! As long as you work hard, you will gain! You will harvest! In the future, no matter for what, we are all together, learning together! From now on, do a good man, and no matter in any way in the future, you should do better than others.

There is a computer room with 30computers in our school which was equipped with in 2004, but they can’t access to the internet because of the low configuration, just as the information technology teaching. There are 5 desktop computers in Satellite reception room, network is ok, mainly being used by teachers and the students of Western stories, and it is the main tool in this creation.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

Although it is the second time to take part in the game for our school, we are the first time to participate in this competition, all of us were new and inexperienced, and computer application technology is green, many difficulties are encountered in the production of Webpage, fortunately, our teacher has a certain experience, he gave us a lot of useful advice from our topic selection, data collection and collation and Webpage production. In addition, the learning time and the game time was conflict, so we contacted the interviewer in advance, in order to lighten the pressure on us at the time allocation. In the way of collecting and making Webpage, we never expected that it was so difficult to collect these information, the information was collected through the online at the beginning, in order to collect some original data, we personally went to visit, to take pictures, because the road was repaired along the way, road was bumped and hollowed, rugged, so it wasted a lot of time. However, to our surprise, Renshou Mountain didn't get good protection, many precious cultural relics have been severely damaged, some cultural relics, murals were incomplete, although we get some information, the information what can embody the historical data is more and more distant from us. When we collected information, due to various reasons, we cannot access to some information, we had to turn to the United Front Work Department for help, in the coordination of United Front Work Department Minister Li, we collected some original, precious materials.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

Through participating in this event, we feel the rich atmosphere Renshou mountain history, profound cultural connotation. In the whole process, we learned to explore, doubt, cooperation, innovation, not only training practical ability in the practice, but also improving the ability of social communication, and enable us to have further understanding with Ren Shou historical monuments, scenic spots. There are a lot of very good historical monuments in Yongdeng County, however, through this activity, because of inadequate protection, lack of development, we feel they were disappeared. We have an obligation to do something to promote the ancient human history, protect the places with a strong religious atmosphere, and carry forward the culture of Taoism and other precious cultural heritage. Now Renshou Mountain has been paid attention by government and departments, many attractions are in the restoration, remains are never destroyed again, this also let us have more opportunities to …

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

This project focuses on Ren Shou culture as the main line, reveals the precious historical and cultural heritage, this activity was started in the background of the new curriculum reform, itself has a special significance, because it can be used as our local curriculum in our actual teaching. The actual operation of the process, our team members not only showed great enthusiasm, but also experienced learning experience that never got before. It is the first time for them to apply knowledge to their real lives, especially for the 6 students, and in order to complete the Renshou Mountain page, they learned a variety of skills, including the integration of information technology. Although the results are still too green, they understand: no pains, no gains. At the same time, in the process of making and visiting, they encouraged and communicated with each other, not only enhance mutual friendship, but also have team spirit.

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

In order to introduce the relics and culture in our hometown to the outside, we formed a project team, acted as the 'publicity ambassador' of hometown. We make an appointment with interview object by telephone, acquired data on field, since we do not understand the relevant provisions, with the teacher's help, and we completed the relevant approval documents from related departments, to collect data once again. We hope to promote the development of local tourism industry through the Webpage contest, and combined with our practice, investigation, research, introduction of Ren Shou Mount to the outside. Through a simple understanding of the historical and cultural characteristics of benevolence, RenShou mount architectural style, cultural pluralism, religious inheritance and social benefits and value of tourism, through our common efforts of several 'ambassadors', to propaganda RenShou mount with Webpage competition, enhance its tourism value, promote the heritage of outstanding folk culture, carry out the local tourism industry quickly.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

In the practice of the Webpage contest, not only let us have a new understanding on the side of historical monuments, but also let us protect history of cultural heritage of the upsurge. We interviewed, took pictures, collected information, through the communication with the Taoists, the people around us not only understand ancient buildings of Ren Shou, but also know Taoism connotation and some non-material cultural heritage. With this Webpage contest, we all expect the audience to introduce their own historical sites and cultural history. In our practice, investigation, research process, to introduce history of Renshou Mountain, develop local tourism. The development of Renshou mountain tourism is has acted certain role to promot the local economy, Taoism culture atmosphere will attract more foreign tourists.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

In the implementation process of this activity, because we are the graduating class, will soon face the senior high school entrance examination, the spare time is less, and the Renshou Mountain, the archives are more than 30 kilometers from the school, this school provides us with help, especially we were supported by our president Wang Zhengqing, the teachers try their best to meet our time requirements, in order to make up missed lessons, sometimes they give us special treatment. In order to get more real, more first-hand information, in the coordination of Yongdeng County, Taiwan, the United Front Work Department of religious authority, the Yongdeng Taoist Association vice president Li Daochang and the other three Taoists received us warmly. A few Taoists were paving the way with construction workers when we arrived, after we told them our purpose, several Taoists acted as guides, and introduced us the Renshou Mountain and Taoist history.

5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)

Because Renshou Mountain can’t be protected well, many precious cultural relics have been severely damaged, some cultural relics, murals are incomplete. With the enhanced awareness of the protection of cultural relics, local government is to increase the protection, adhere to the overall protection, repairing them as far as possible in accordance with the previous old building. This participative experience is a big harvest for us, we not only learn about the history of Mount Renshou, but also learned how to communicate with people. The happiest thing is that through independent study, practice process, we can solve specific problems with our knowledge and experience, learning how to learn, cultivating the humanistic spirit and scientific literacy. At the same time, we also understand a truth: everything is not so good for you when we walk, we always has experienced a lot of wind and rain. Do not experience wind and rain, how can see the rainbow. In the future, we must understand: no pains, no gains. At the same time, we each must have the confidence, to have a clear goal in life, like to go to 'Jinding', step by step, work steadily, as long as you keep on trying, adhere to climb, you will eventually reach the top.
