Thirteen years since the school is a new school, school spirit and lively freedom, campus design, the school has a size two aquatic pool, planning and planting to create a diversity of aquatic habitats amphibians, the study for the campus within these two issues facing aquatic pool, looking for solutions, through practical activities, hands-on environment for the transformation of aquatic pool, and make changes during recording, and look forward to seeing the beautiful Tung Shin.

2. Summary of Our Project

Tung Shin elementary school has been established for 13 years, the school would have a large range of low-lying agricultural land, the beginning of the school they plan to keep a corner of the area as a wetland ecosystem, and later because of flooding, the impact of drainage ditches pollution, invasive species and other factors, aquatic species pool is smaller, difficult to manage, through the transformation of several hardware on improving the situation leaky bottom, but found the water quality of the pool and the harm caused apple snails successful cultivation of aquatic plants planted have great difficulties. So we start from the fifth grade in the ecological pond cleanup apple snails, creating floating island ecosystems, aquatic exploration and application of thematic experiments, hoping to improve these problems, so that ecological pond Tung Shin elementary schools can have clean water, rich biota and variety of aquatic plants, become a suitable teaching and wetland exploration field.

3. Our Computer and Internet Access

A. Percentage of students using the Internet at home:21-50%

B. Number of workstations with Internet access in the classroom:4-6

C. Connection speed used in the classroom:dial-up modem

D. Number of years our classroom has been connected to the Internet:more than 6

E. Additional comments concerning your computer and/or Internet access (Optional):

The school currently has a computer lab, a total of nearly thirty PC, in addition to every class has a class all their own computers, servers and administration together with part of the school, about fifty PC to form a LAN via the Pingtung County Lutheran network Center and even a small country on the Taiwan academic Network. Computer classroom after school hours on weekdays, there is open to students to use in crowded transmission speed academic network, although not very soon, but came home from school, had to rely on dial-up Internet access, transmission rate is much slower, because the school remoteness, family environment better than the average urban child, the family computer in the school's less popular, for the implementation of information education quite difficult.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

Difficulties we encountered and overcome by: A. Technical barriers: Web production technology needs to be strengthened, software, operating procedures must be constantly reminded that under the guidance of teachers, we have the most simple way, using pspad software to write the contents of the teacher-designed web framework, the successful completion of the page. B. summarized data compilation: a lot of information and photo content, we lack the ability to organize induction, then the teacher guide we use grouping and classification of filing the way to proceed, we have finally reached good results. C. Time Planning: Because schoolwork plus holidays, we sometimes can not achieve the desired thematic progress under the guidance of parents and teachers, we use Wednesday afternoons and Saturday stepped up the pace to catch up.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

The quality of the environment and our lives, from personal experience to explore, operation and maintenance, process observational studies, students develop from the care for the environment and respect for other living attitude. Thematic activities designed by the Institute, but also allow parents to accompany children to grow up together.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

Nine-year curriculum emphasizes helping students from the learning process to explore their potential, develop problem-solving skills. Students must make the necessary efforts to improve their living and learning environment. For this reason, our research is based on caring and understanding of the campus environment as a starting point. Cyberfair through case studies, we lead the students to observe changes in the surrounding environment capacity development. We also guide students to participate and learn through on-site surveys, identify problems, and hands to improve the problem. Use activity design, we invite parents to participate in the community, will expand its influence level, so that more people understand their own living environment. In the process, we learn to respect others, good communication and organizational division of labor. Way through the team division of tasks, with everyone doing a theme, but do different parts, so we have to learn how to cooperate, how to observe, how to control the progress. Through this research, can enhance students' intentions to be concerned and to make the necessary efforts to understand the integration of their living environment.
