4. Problems We Had To Overcome
We have made interviews with many government officials, college professors, business owners, school lunch committee members and farmers. We had made thorough preparations before every interview, meanwhile a lot of bad news about food-safety broke out within months, and we had to modify our questions for the upcoming interview over and over again. With our teachers’ guidance, we gradually got confidence facing this challenge.
The preparation for the charity bazaar has been a lengthy process, which includes discussing about the items for sale, making contact with farmers, booth decoration and promotion, and deciding on what units that we would donate the money. The most difficult part lies in our sale items. We really want to earn more money to help the farmers, yet the preservation period of fruit lasts shorter than what we imagined, not to mention transportation and stock problems. Thanks to the great help from local farmers and our parents, we have finally managed to make a success of the charity bazaar.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?
We have learned updated knowledge about organic or toxin-free farming during our research, and been informed of the harmful consequences of chemical additives. From the interviews, we got acquainted with much more knowledge. In the regard of natural science, we interviewed professors and experts in the areas of food processing and food inspection, thus acquiring knowledge about food safety and genetically modified food, knowing the benefits of organic vegetables and fruit, and improving our own thinking ability and language skills as well. In the respect of Mathematics, we drew a chart of statistics, which explicitly show us the polled citizens’ opinions and acceptance. In the respect of IT, we employed Excel analysis and made charts. In the area of Integrated Education, we have developed integrational ability in designing questionnaires with our ideas and data at hand. We hope people might get acquainted with the knowledge we have learned in the process. Webpage design is not only about IT capability, it has a lot to do with our curriculum as well.
