Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

Honggu district is a remote administrative region under the jurisdiction of Lanzhou City. There is a old man, named Yu Wenxiu, born in April 15,1932, is a 83-year-old veteran revolutionary cadre. He is in good health with clear thinking, sonorous discourse, we can see his heroic bearing when he participated in the Korean War and the Sino Indian War in self-defense, it is old revolutionary that worth us studying.

2. Summary of Our Project

In this activity, the special column 'interview Yu Wenxiu' is the focus of the event. Let the students know the old revolutionary, the life we lived is gained by them whom paid a lot of hard work, at the same time, actively drive around the students, teachers, workers, peasants and others to learn the deeds of Yu Wenxiu, to lay good foundation for the dream of China.

There are two computer classrooms with 60 computers each. Their configurations are good. Telecommunication broadband is accessed and the bandwidth is 4M. Our team members can access the internet at school and it is reliable.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

1,The students were a little nervous when they were communicating with Yu Wenxiu, maybe it was the first time to have face-to-face interview, through the teacher's guidance, we slowly adapted to the request for an interview; 2, Time is tight, the study pressure is high, and we gotta have extra lessons during weekends. 3,Lack of experience, There are problems of webpage making and social communications. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is week. Our English are not good. But the entries are requested in English by committee. We have to ask help from the teachers in Town and Talent Company.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

It is easy to make webpage but the process is hardship. If there will be a chance later, I never miss it. We believe that efforts will be fruitful. After having an interview with Yu Wenxiu, we are encouraged greatly. Our generation of students should study hard and do our part to contribute to realize china’s dream in the future. We conclude in one word that it is successful for us to be a caring person.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

Theoretical knowledge can be learned from books. We are encouraged greatly by interviewing Yu Wenxiu, a 83-year-old veteran revolutionary cadre. He is in good health with clear thinking, sonorous discourse. There is so much we could learn from him.

As reports, after discussion in groups, we designed topics for interview with Yu Wenxiu. It was a chance to experience the old man’s life.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

By visit the old revolutionary cadre, let us know that the stability and happiness of our life was hard won. His stories have stimulated us and can influence otheres around us.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

All information were provided by Yu Wenxiu.

5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)

We found out that there is a great old revolutionary cadre in Honggu. We were deeply moved and motivated by the stories about the old man
