Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

Pucheng County is located at the northeast of Guanzhong Plain in Shaanxi Province. Under the jurisdiction of Weinan City, Pucheng is the second populous county in Shaanxi with 2000,000 people. As a noted historic and cultural city, it is named “the land of bear” and “the land of firework”.There are the mausoleums of the Tang Dynasty surrounding Pucheng County, and it is the hometown of National Revolutionary Army General Yang Hucheng and the Prime Minister Wang Ding's hometown, so it has the good reputation of 'the hometown of generals and ministers of state. The culture of the ancient city in the west of Pucheng - 'Zongquan ancient city' project is located in the south of Sunzhen district, especially Tang Minghuang and Yang's legendary love story,was built by Shaanxi Mawei Yi Modern Agriculture Co. Ltd. Which has invested 150 million yuan, they plan to build ancient city of water with a set of cultural exhibitions and cultural exchange, the original ecological food, folk culture experience leisure, entertainment, environmental protection in one.

2. Summary of Our Project

During student's independent research and hands-on, they solved problems in realistic life using their own knowledge and experience, to experience the gainful and result of independent thinking and autonomous learning, learned and mastered computer skills. Meanwhile, during webpage making and visiting, they encouraged and communicated with each other, not only strengthened their mutual friendship, but also enhanced the cohesion of team. The construction of ancient city will give prominence to western region, the government has invested a lot of money, focus on creating cultural characteristics of Pucheng tourism brand, the city will be as a link for a day trip in Pucheng. Leading the rapid development of planting, breeding, accommodation, economy, driven by the rapid prosperity of the surrounding people, I believe that 'Zhongquan ancient city' project is bound to become new business card of Pucheng tourism! It was opened in 2016 New Year's day, visitors was up to 810 thousand, the first was day up to 210 thousand passengers.

Our school has two computer classrooms with 90 computers and 10m internet access. All teachers’ official hooked up to the web with a slow network. Every team member has no computer in home, we had to search information, input texts and deal with the pictures in school on weekend.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

5. Our Project Sound Bite

After 40 days hard work, we were happy obtaining good results from no idea where to start at the beginning. During the process of study, we knew Wengyu ancient road better. We hope that Wengyu ancient road at the foot of Hua Mountain have become known throughout the world by our webpage. We were never good enough to study project, but under the guidance of the teacher, we had the confidence to do better. We have done our best, at least we knew that it needs a lot of processes from the planning to begin collecting material, to make website, finally released, through the joint efforts of us, at the same time, in the production process, we also learned a lot of knowledge which we never learned in junior high school classroom.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

In this activity, our school took 'West Side Story' as a comprehensive practice activity class, and there was a class every week. In the current new curriculum reform, in addition to the normal class, we were also advocated to improve the study and social practice, the purpose to participate in this activity is to give us a good chance to practice. We think it not only ensured our normal learning, but also broaden our horizons, and pay attention to the environment around in the spare time to collect, visit and take pictures.

Hardware: Computer, camera, DV, Scanner, SD Card, Card Reader, U disk.

Software: MEITU XIUXIU, Photoshop7.0, Word, Macromedia Dreamweaver

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

We vigorously publicize the culture of the Zhongquan ancient town by means of practice and investigation that we explored every facet of history, geography and culture, paid visit the local villagers and village officer. We shared the results with school teacher and students. The important thing is that we hope people know the ancient city history, know hometown’s culture to awaken people's passion towards loving hometown.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

Without our exploration, our classmates and hometown have little know about ancient town and hometown historical culture. We shared the results of our research with those around us, let them know about hometown’s tourism resources, the important position of ancient town, and let people know better that is the charm of home.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

We got our materials by visiting and interviews. Staffs and tourists provided a lot of information to us, particularly including old pictures about ancient town The local people told us many stories about Emperor Xuan Zong and his favorite lady, Yang Guifei when they accepted our interviews. Students actively cooperate with us, provide the venue, to arrange time to share our results. In the whole process of research activities, thank the teacher gave us a lot of careful guidance and help.

5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)

Several times, teacher brought us to go on field trip during collecting information that developing our investigative skills and exploration of learning, made us to try or learn something new. We learned that it wasn't easy to make deep study of project. We have heard Wengyu ancient road, but never got to find the story behind it. This time, there was a opportunity for us to explore and excavate the culture of ancient road, we cannot help that: we learned really helpful! By visiting, we found that a lot of local people did not care about their hometown’s culture. We hope that every people including the local people know about ancient town by our efforts, let more people love their hometown and do something for hometown.
