1. Description of Our Community
Johor Bahru is a town and district located near the middle of the state of Johor, Malaysia. Johor Bahru lies about 110 km north of Johor Bahru, east-southeast of Batu Pahat, west of Mersing and south of Segamat.Johor has 8 districts and this district is one of the only districts that have a sea front. The population of Kluang district exceeds 250,000 residents and the town itself has over 145,000 residents.Thera are there main races Malay, Chiness and Indains. Each of race will have their own faith in religion and tradition
2. Summary of Our Project
The project describe more about ponggal festival celebratede by Indians(Tamil) in Johor Bahru region.Indians(Tamil) are the third minority of race in Johor Bahru.Pongal is a four-day-long harvest festival celebrated by Tamil ethncis in the world. For as long as people have been planting and gathering food, there has been some form of harvest festival. Pongal is one of the most important popular Hindu festivals of the year. This four-day festival of thanksgiving to nature takes its name from the Tamil word meaning 'to boil' and is held in the month of Thai (January-February) during the season when rice and other cereals, sugar-cane, and turmeric (an essential ingredient in Tamil cooking) are harvested.The purpose of this research is to spread cultural and festival belief of Pongal among the people around the world. This also awakens the cultural belief among us. We chosse the title “Harmony of Pongal” as our project. Our project is to explain art,belief,culture and traditional celebration of ponggal in Johor Bahru, Malaysia.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome
Our group members face difficult in finishing the project. It is because we got to know about the project very late. So, we had to arrange our procedures reasonable to complete the project before the due date. Besides school programme in class teaching, teacher Siva sankar A/L R. Mahalingam also spent time to guide us to comlete the project. Information that we had collected regarding our project was in Tamil language. We had to translate Tamil language to English with the guidence of our English teachers without changing the actual meaning.
5. Our Project Sound Bite
Cyber fair organisasations give such a wonderful opportunity to students & the school to collaborate with an International School based on project wise. The project also improved students research based skills, with the team participating at the global level.
6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?
Certain subjects in our school curriculum are related to our tradition and culture. The topics give emphasize on the need to preserve the uniqueness of the culture. Pongal Festival is a vast cultural event celebrated by Malaysian Indians. The main purpose of this research is to get the festival known to people around the world. Thus, the project is able to preserve the culture and traditions of the indian community.
