1. Description of Our Community
Our community is located at the back of Taoyuan Railway Station. Compared to the area in front of the railway station, our community is growing more slowly. Most families in our community are working class, so parents here feel that education is important because only with good education can their children have greater chance to be in the upper-class.
2. Summary of Our Project
Last summer, students in the English gifted class studied the classic Chinese story 'The Legend of White Snake' and worked together to adapt the story into an English drama script. For half a year, all the students worked together to make props, learn acting skills, and rehearse continuously.Finally at the end of 2023, the drama team performed in front of the whole school.Not only did they successfully take on the challenge of presenting the play in English in front of an audience of 2,000, but they also introduced the play to the entire school.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome
We encountered the following problems while working on this project: 1.To rewrite Chinese stories into scripts and present them in English. 2.All the team members and performers had to find a common time to come together to plan and rehearse. 3.Obtaining enough iPads to allow the audience to click on the Google form to complete the questionnaire after the performance.
5. Our Project Sound Bite
Promoting Chinese drama through English not only showcases creativity but also allows the public to re-understand the beauty of Chinese drama.
6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?
Our school curriculum includes independent study courses. Therefore, completing this project allows students to have a deeper understanding of and promote Chinese classic stories.The team members not only completed a drama performance on campus, but also conducted research on the theme of the drama. Next, we will adapt this English play again and perform it in rural schools for elementary school students to enjoy.
