Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

Our school, Fucheng Senior High School, is located in Fengshan District, Kaohsiung City, adjacent to the Qianzhen River Waterfront Trail. Next to the school is Exit 2 of the Qianzhen Senior High School MRT Station, making transportation highly convenient. To accommodate students commuting via the MRT, our school has established the Dunxue Path, ensuring a safer and more convenient journey to school. Directly across from the school is a KFC, and the surrounding area is filled with numerous restaurants, making dining extremely convenient. In addition to dining options, there are many clothing stores, hotels, and night markets, fulfilling the needs of food, clothing, housing, and transportation. As a result, the Wujia area is experiencing population growth, establishing itself as a rising district in Kaohsiung.

2. Summary of Our Project

Through this Cyberfair, we aim to introduce more people to Kaohsiung, a key city in southern Taiwan known for its diverse natural landscapes, cultural activities, and rich history. Our research project seeks to create a website that showcases Kaohsiung’s vibrant charm, increasing both domestic and international awareness of this dynamic city.

3. Our Computer and Internet Access

A. Percentage of students using the Internet at home:more than 50%

B. Number of workstations with Internet access in the classroom:4-6

C. Connection speed used in the classroom:dedicated connection

D. Number of years our classroom has been connected to the Internet:more than 6

E. Additional comments concerning your computer and/or Internet access (Optional):

Our school has a fully digitalized administrative system, and all offices and classrooms are equipped with internet access and cable TV. Additionally, there are three multimedia network computer labs, providing 120 computers for IT education and subject-based learning. This ensures both convenient access to the internet and an excellent online learning environment.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

Since this was our first attempt at creating a webpage, we often encountered problems, such as: How do I copy images and videos? Do I need an authorization letter to download videos? With the help of our teachers and the available information network, we were able to solve these problems one by one.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

Our school, 'Fu Cheng High School' is located in Wu Chia, Kaohsiung City, adjacent Cianjhen Riverside Park, and next to MRT Station Exit 2(R5).Due to the fast transportation, it’s so convenient for students to school in a 3-minute walk. Just for that reason, our school set up a “Studying Trail” to let students and people take the MRT to school more convenient and safer.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

Project Elements

1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your CyberFair project?

Computer: type, edit website, and organize materials

Internet: gather information

USB: access pictures and articles

Phone: discuss

Projector: View the color difference on different devices

Software: Microsoft Word, Google Chrome, and Google sites

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

What we learn is not just to memorize the text, but apply them in daily life. This time we execute, ' Dynamickaohsiung ' to combinate the school's various curriculums and hope to make progress ourselves. And we look forward to share with you.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

Through this Cyberfair, we hope to highlight Kaohsiung’s unique characteristics and vibrant atmosphere via our website. The Multi-Layered Charm of Kaohsiung 'Dynamic Kaohsiung' perfectly captures the essence of this city. As one of Taiwan’s major industrial and trade centers, Kaohsiung seamlessly integrates nature, culture, and history, displaying an unparalleled sense of vitality and attraction. The Perfect Fusion of Nature and Urban Life Kaohsiung is renowned for its majestic port, expansive mountains, and beautiful beaches, providing excellent spaces for relaxation and social interaction. A Hub of Arts and Culture Locations like Weiwuying (National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts) and the Pier-2 Art Center serve as key venues for creativity and artistic expression, offering platforms for artists and endless inspiration for visitors. A City Rich in History and Hospitality Kaohsiung’s historical sites, such as Hamasen, bear witness to its development over time. Meanwhile, the warm and welcoming locals, whether through casual street conversations or friendly interactions in food stalls, make Kaohsiung not just a great place to visit but also a wonderful place to live.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

Connecting with students and teachers from different countries is a great way to learn about the world. Recently, we received a lot of help from the principal’s secretary and the head of the international exchange office. They helped us find Dutch students and Filipino teachers for our program, and we are very grateful for their support.

Finding international friends and teachers is not easy. It takes time, effort, and good communication skills. Thanks to their help, we were able to meet new people from different cultures and learn from them. Their hard work made this exchange possible, and we truly appreciate it.

We want to sincerely thank them for their time and effort. Their support has made a big difference in our learning experience. Without them, we wouldn’t have had this wonderful opportunity.

We are very thankful for their help and hope to continue working together on more international exchange programs in the future!

5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)

As a middle school student, I made a website about Kaohsiung’s Hamasen area, focusing on its history and culture. The website included information about the old railroad tracks, local art, and street food. After creating the website, I visited Hamasen to see it for myself. Walking around, I was amazed by the old railroad tracks and how they are now part of the area’s unique charm. It was interesting to see how the area has changed over time, with new art spaces alongside the old tracks. This visit made me appreciate Hamasen even more and inspired me to use technology to share local culture. It was a fun and meaningful project that helped me connect with my hometown.
