Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

Our school is located in Yongjing Township, Changhua County, located in the middle of Taiwan, which belongs to the plain terrain, the climate is subtropical, and it is warm all year round. In order to develop the township industry, the residents mostly focus on horticulture and fruit seedling planting, and the grafting technology of fruit seedlings is well-known throughout Taiwan, and there are many seedling companies on both sides of the first line of Taiwan. Yongjing -- Although it is a little-known rural place, it is the most important supply center for the supply of flowers and fruit seedlings in Taiwan.

2. Summary of Our Project

Chrysanthemum, an important economic industry in his hometown, is also the county flower of Changhua County, and through the study of chrysanthemum planting, production, marketing and innovation, he shows the profound industrial culture of his hometown.

3. Our Computer and Internet Access

A. Percentage of students using the Internet at home:more than 50%

B. Number of workstations with Internet access in the classroom:more than 6

C. Connection speed used in the classroom:dedicated connection

D. Number of years our classroom has been connected to the Internet:more than 6

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

The first problem we faced was that after determining the research direction, we searched for data related to the chrysanthemum industry on the Internet, but the data was lacking, and most of them were introduced varieties, and the planting technology we wanted to understand was relatively old. Therefore, we revised the content of the topic back and forth through data compiled by the group, interviews with experts who actually grow it, and people who work in the flower auction market. In addition, the second problem is that we have to use other common time to participate in this topic, so the time available is limited. We worked in small groups and delivered information on the platform, and when we got home, we were able to discuss online and make presentations together.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

Many children do not know much about the industry in their hometown, and this session hopes to help them understand the rich resources of this land. We want to let more people know about Yongjing, present the learning results through the website, and share the diversity of Taiwan's real estate industry with the world through the digital platform.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

Cross-disciplinary thematic discussions, through data search, expert interviews and field visits to collect information, integrate relevant knowledge, understand local history and culture, understand the hometown economy and industry, and understand that the industry needs to innovate, otherwise it will be eliminated soon. This is all about allowing students to learn to improve their problem-solving and practical skills. Showcase learning outcomes through the website to enhance the use of digital tools and creative thinking skills. Completing presentations, expressing one's opinions, and responding to questions allow students to practice expressing themselves and communicating with others.

1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your CyberFair project?

We used: 1. Personal computer, tablet It is used to search for information, take photos, write logs, make posters, type interview records, etc. 2. Online platform Classroom Through the online platform, there is no time difference in communication and discussion of thematic content, and the team can share it. 3. Digital voice recorder The interview record will be converted online to a text file and then revised. 4. Computer software Use a variety of software to create and edit your work to feature your feature.

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

We play the role of Yongjing's chrysanthemum ambassador. Through field interviews, investigation and analysis, actual planting, exhibition publicity and website production, the history and humanistic spirit of chrysanthemum planting in my hometown will be promoted to more people, hoping to bring more support and innovation.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

Many children do not know much about the industry in their hometown, and this session hopes to help them understand the rich resources of this land. We also brought the special report and the chrysanthemums planted to the exhibition hall outside the school, so that more people could know about Yongjing, present the learning results through posters, and share the diversity of Yongjing's real estate industry with everyone.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

Through an interview with Mr. Jiang Kunpei, the person in charge of Yongnong Flowers, we learned about the knowledge and skills related to planting and dyeing chrysanthemums, and continued to explore the process of chrysanthemum seedling cultivation and post-harvest sales through Mr. Jiang's introduction. Visiting the flower auction market, interviewing Manager Zhong, Section Manager Li and Team Leader Huang, let us understand the economic benefits of the domestic chrysanthemum industry and the current problems. We are very grateful to these people for taking the time to lead us to discover and experience, and to do more for the inheritance of the industry.

5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)

The hardest part of the process is to plant these fireworks chrysanthemums in the school, three months, in addition to checking the moisture of the soil every day, fertilizing at a fixed time, and the most important thing is to catch insects, because we have not sprayed pesticides, so we are afraid of being eaten by insects, and the hard work will be in vain! We took care of it very carefully, but for one or two days, the cold wind was very strong, and I didn't expect to hurt the petals of the chrysanthemum, so that it could not be sold at a good price in the market! It reminds me that 'the work of a farmer is really to depend on the sky.'
