1. Description of Our Community
Our topic this time, based on the goal of “contribute and unite” and “local historical sites”, is the Luzhou Lee family residence. This residence is well protected, leaving the miniature of the history story that had happened. In order to prevent culture from disappearing over time, the exclusive foundation started holding exhibitions in 2006. Now, they even design many different cultural activities, hoping that more and more people will join the ranks of those upholding history.
2. Summary of Our Project
The topic “Luzhou Lee family residence” is the site we chose for the international cyber fair. It aims to make more people know this historical site and know more about the culture. Our idea is that there must be someone that starts doing cultural propaganda, then why not us? That’s why we started our steps, chose this location as the theme, and at the same time, we used classroom outreach and the opportunity of this competition to spread this historical and cultural heritage.
3. Our Computer and Internet Access
A. Percentage of students using the Internet at home:less than 20
B. Number of workstations with Internet access in the classroom:1
C. Connection speed used in the classroom:dial-up modem
D. Number of years our classroom has been connected to the Internet:4-6
4. Problems We Had To Overcome
Though we did come up with a final project, it doesn’t mean this road went so smoothly. In the process, the arrangement of time is the most challenging part for us. We thought we still had a lot of time until we found out that we only have one month left. That’s when we went to visit the Luzhou Lee Residence, and met another problem. At first, we couldn't find anyone to guide us, but luckily, a senior guide was just about to go, and we tried to get her to stay. After knowing our purpose for this visit, she introduced it to us very enthusiastically, covering every detail. We even met the chairman of their foundation, and did an interview with him. These experiences really remind us a lot about scheduling everything beforehand to make ourselves more at ease.
5. Our Project Sound Bite
Participating in the international cyber fair not only this competition not only improved our information literacy, teamwork, and division of labor skills, but also taught us the importance of pre-planning and problem-solving. Most importantly, it gave us a deeper understanding of the culture of our place of residence and became an opportunity for us to become cultural promotion nodes, realizing that we can also contribute in this regard.
6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?
In our project, we blend in history (of time since the Luzhou Lee family came to Taiwan), geography(what the Luzhou area used to be and the flood caused by the terrain of the location), civils(the level of the heritages and humanitarian issues during the white terror period), and of course, computer science (website making). Also, we also learned a lot of things that do not appear in the textbook. For example, deciding which theme to choose and what heritage to study really test our ability of communicating. Another thing we learned is to plan everything we want to do pr-hand. Otherwise, we might lack time in the end. Lastly, when doing Admission promotion, we gain the skill of public speaking, which is an important skill that we should all acquire in the future.

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.
As ambassadors for the International Cyberfair project, we actively reach out to and promote awareness among the surrounding community, increasing people’s cognition of the heritage. To enrich the content of our website and ensure the reality of the details, we chose to cooperate with the Luzhou Lee Residence operate Foundation. During the interview with them, pieces of stories about the residence unfold slowly. That’s when we discovered what problems the Li residence once faced, which gave us a deeper understanding of the difficulties involved in managing an old house. In addition, we interviewed the guidance in Luzhou Lee Residence to gain a local perspective different from that of the foundation, further expanding the impact of our plan. Besides looking for information to set up this webpage, we also take actual action, aiming to enhance students' understanding of the Luzhou Lee Residence on campus. Based on the interview in class in the early stages, we found out that many people still misunderstand many historical heritages, or don’t even have any basic understanding of them. Then, we promote to mostly 50% of classes from elementary to senior high, introduce the key issues of the Luzhou Lee Residence and our core philosophy to them, and encourage them to become the node of further promotion. During those promotions, we shared many stories and history of development of the Luzhou Lee Residence, making the entire campaign more relatable to the audience.
3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?
Our program aims to present the heritage that is almost forgotten to people’s view. In fact, many heritages that have great significance have been buried into the dust of history as time passes. How to change this depressing question is what we are trying now. Although our webpage now only contains Luzhou Lee Residence, we are still working hard promoting it. By conducting on-site investigations in the area and collaborating with the Foundation, we can deeply understand the information that we can’t find online. This allows us to set off from the angle of Luzhou Lee Residence, find out and improve the problems they are facing now. What’s more, we also actively engage in the promotion of Junior high and Elementary colonies, expecting doing so can encourage them to spontaneously introduce the historical site to their relatives and friends, thereby improving the declining popularity of the Li Residence in Luzhou. Not to be humble, our promotion did have some effect already. From the investigation during our promotion, no more than 1% of people knew the name of Luzhou Lee Residence. And if talking truly understands about it, there’s none. But just a few days after our promotion, one of our teammates found several posts about Luzhou Lee Residence on social media. Most of them mentioned that they had actually visited the Luzhou Lee Residence when they were children, but they didn’t recognize it before. However, a few posts obviously cannot change the current situation. There’s still a lot of people living near Luzhou but don’t know about the residence. So, here comes our webpage to face this situation. It provides the information that is verification from multiple sources, including architecture, history and culture and more. We also interview the guidance that has many years of experience in Luzhou Lee Residence to gain more precise information, ensuring our information is correct and valuable. Although our website hasn't been deployed to users worldwide, we believe …
4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?
Our website could not have reached its current state without the generous support of our teachers. Their professional knowledge, constructive suggestions, and constant encouragement shaped every stage of our work — from setting up the site and creating content to refining its presentation. From the very beginning of our project, they provided invaluable help: arranging classrooms equipped with IT tools, carving time out of their schedules to advise us, and steadily building our writing and technical skills. Their patience and willingness to help kept us moving forward through every difficulty and climbing higher with every challenge. We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the Luzhou Lee Residence. Thanks to their guidance during our site visit, we were able to conduct a face-to-face interview with the chairman of the Old House Management Foundation. We are deeply grateful to the chairman for generously sharing a meal with us and offering his time and insight. Much of the lesser-known information on our webpage comes directly from him — his introduction helped us uncover a culture buried beneath layers of time, just as we were struggling to find it. Finally, and most importantly, we wish to thank the dedicated volunteers and unsung heroes who continue to fight for the preservation of cultural heritage today. The Luzhou Lee Residence has faced countless hardships and narrowly escaped ruin more than once. It is only because of these people's efforts that the Residence has not been swallowed by the tide of history. We do not know their names, nor even how many they are — but we know with certainty that the Residence stands today because of them. Each and every one of them deserves our deepest respect.
