Description of Our Community: Our school is near Chungli Train Station. There are more and more new immigrants in our school and in the neighborhood. They need to face the conflict between their hometown’s culture and Taiwan’s culture, but some taiwanese misunderstood them and even edge them out, so the new immigrants cannot fit in un Taiwan well.

Project Description: The topic we want to explore is the culture conflicts of the new immigrants between their hometown and Taiwan and their trouble fitting in at school. In order to know more about new immigrants in Taiwan, we went to Zhongping Road Story House for “The Lecture Series on Southeast Asian Culture three times.” We analyzed questionnaires to know if the new immigrants and their children have any trouble fitting in in Taiwan, and interviewed some schoolmates. We hope we can promote new immigrants’ culture to help new immigrants adapt themselves to their school life by helping other students to know more about new immigrants’ dilemma, language, and culture. We hope to make our campus more and more diverse.
