4. Problems We Had To Overcome

One, this was the first time for our students to take part in this practicing activity and we had no experience. We can only learn from other successful experience and combined our own reality to go forward. Second, our school is a regular senior high school, our time was limited and our task for study was heavy, so we didn’t have enough time to participate in the activity. We can only use the spare time at noon, in the afternoon and in the evening to let students participate in the activity and did not take up their study time and affected their normal study life. Third, our students were with poor computer capabilities and some even felt hard in typing and not to mention dealing with images and designing website. However, they were eager to learn and self-motivated and had strong comprehensive power. We teachers could only made more instruction and trained them and helped them in applications. Four, this year we suffered extremely hot weather and in National Holiday and Mid-Autumn Festival, since there were serious H1N1 epidemic situation, we had a three weeks’ holiday. Our students are rural people and lived far away from the school, it was not easy to gather together, so we could only use their time at school to have operation training and their time outside school to do those not related to operation. Five, this year the weather sometimes was not good, sometimes there was stretching rain, which presented difficulties for us to go out, we could only on the muddy road and went forward in rain, sometimes there were sand all over the sky and we were not afraid of it.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

Xichong Confucian Temple is not only an attraction in the west; she represents the culture and spirit of people in Xichong County. We should cherish our own history and culture and promote xichong Confucian Temple well, let more people understand the temple and know Xichong. Because the modern people do not strict to ethical code like ancient people do, and because of various practical interests, they ignored the essence of humanities, especially the youngsters; they knew little of the Confucian Temple. It’s significant for them to enhance their understanding. Therefore, we must protect the Confucian Temple, inherit and carry forward China's excellent cultural traditions and virtue!Although we have insufficient human resources, urgent time and limited capacity, we showed our beautiful essence unreservedly and enable our students to understand the history of Xichong and today’s life was not easily obtain. During the past two months, we made unremitting efforts to achieve our common goal, though we lost some rest time, we harvest lots of fruits!

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

When students studied in schools, they should not only learn the knowledge in books but also learn knowledge outside the book. We should not only grasp the first class learning in the classroom, but also pay attention to the use of second class outside the classroom. The project that we were engaged in research activities was a highly practical activity, which was very significant to the independence and autonomy of students in research-based learning. For students who studied in high school such as our school, we lacked of computer capabilities and practicing opportunity. This kind of research-based learning happened to make up the students’ disadvantages and encouraged students to play their subjective initiative and explored actively and created bravely. The students experienced the process that they never experienced and used their knowledge of information and technology and deepen it in practice. The students’ participation was very positive and they were interested in it. Through the study of the topic, students also increased their knowledge, learned communication skills, mastered the skills to communicate with others and enhanced their patience and confidence. Students also hoped that the school can arrange more practical activities and set up related applications course, which was important for students to grow.
