Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

Tongjiang, is located in the northeast of Sichuan, belongs to Ba in ancient times, belongs to Bajun in Qin Dynasty, it has 1500 years of history. It covers an area of 4116 square kilometers, population is 730000, is known as 'the capital of the Sichuan-Shaanxi Soviet Area', 'Chinese Red Army town', 'Chinese Tremella town', 'Chinese cave town'.

2. Summary of Our Project

“New houses in Bashan” project includes “new houses, new industries , new facilities and new fashion” as the main content, gathering farmers, who were scattered in the northeastern Sichuan DaBaShan areas before, to live together, build new homes for them according to the standard of modern new rural residence, and develop local industry, helping them to eliminate poverty. To completely change the villagers’ production and living conditions, to ensure that poverty is eliminated forever, we want to show the real changes in our hometown by this theme project.

In our school, we get access to internet by fiber cable with the bandwidth of the 5 M. and because there are many computers in school network, the online speed is kind of slow.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

Lack courage : as instructor goes to the school, we have to finish the interview, while the farthest place we have been is our county, and we have to go to the scenic spot at our own without the accompany of adults, thinking about this, we feel a little at loss without courage. With the persuasion and encouragement of our teacher, we finally summon up courage to go with bags on our back. Route: as the famous “New houses in Bashan” scatters in three counties and two districts in BaZhong City, it is impossible visit them one by one. In order to visit the settlements, problem besides how to arrange the route, it is our big problem to consider money and time. Time: we have many courses at school, so we have to use the weekend to carry out the project. How to arrange time is our big problem. So we use the weekend to complete our interview and collect the first hand information.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

Taking part in project, there are many first times of us in our life: for the first time, we come to the place which is hundreds of miles away from our living mountain area; For the first time , we visit the villa new countryside; Interview a stranger out of school for the first time with a shy flushed face; Use camera to take pictures for the first time with shaking hands; no courage at tall to participate in such a big contest for the first time... So many things starting from scratch, give us opportunity to grow with belief of triumph. This contest will benefit for our whole life. With two months of efforts, we collect the data , although web pages is not well finsihed, we finally make our first works.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

We believe after this performance, the children in the mountains have been gotten exercise on the adaptability of facing unknown difficulties from the outside world at their own (communication with strangers, taking different means of transportation, without accompany by adults, etc.) and team cooperation ability. At the same time, we would like this contest to show the real change of our hometown to the whole world, make more friends in the world come to our hometown to see the beautiful scenery, enjoy delicious food, recommend our beautiful Bazhong to friends all over the world!

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

Through this research project, we adapt to communicate with different strangers, no communication before communication, we think it hard to speak, while after the interview, it proves to be a pleasant experience to communicate with people; and we realize the importance of teamwork, The project study makes student know more information about many aspects of Bazhong . ...... this contest cultivate our teamwork spirit, self-confidence and indomitable will, love of motherland and hometown.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

In this activity, the students know more about building style in BaZhong city, the students are willing to participate in this activity, visiting our demonstration site. And through this activity, the students on campus make boards for promotion on the school streets, which leads more students to understand the great changes in our hometown.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

In the process of finishing this project, Town and Talent Technology (China) Co., LTD, other companies and lots of people provide help for us in research and development of our contest theme. We want to thank uncles and aunts in Town and Talent company for giving us the opportunity and support. Finally, we would like to thank the school for providing us with funds and support for this activity. And thanks again for the help of the leaders, teachers and students. At this time, we want to say: “thank all of you, who support us, it is you that make us to complete the project successfully, thank you!”

5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)

The result is not important, what is important is that in the whole process we learn a lot of things that are not in the books: how to communicate with people, how to use some advanced equipment and know a lot cultural knowledge about cave formation, train us to think actively when we encounter problems, cultivate our courage and will to overcome the unknown difficulties.
