Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

Bazhong city, located in the northeastern Sichuan, is the Red Revolution Base and old revolutionary areas.Beautiful mountains and rivers, Bazhong city is abundant in light, heat, water and biological resources which creates a favourable condition for the development of Bazhong ‘s people.

2. Summary of Our Project

Rural Empty Nester is a new type of rural problems in today's society, is the inevitable trend of social progress, is the countryside to the city, the integration of labor resources, the latest achievements of development of society and industry. Pay attention to old people in rural areas is to pay attention to the healthy development of society, it is the problem that the government must face and need to solve in the new era.

School is the mobile broadband, but the network server is overloaded operation, it is slow during the day, it is 10kb, 100kb in the morning, office computer configuration is low, all of them are used more than ten years, most of the tasks are finished by the students in spare time in the computer room.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

This is the second time to participate in Webfare. In many categories of race, we choose the local characters--- rural Empty Nester as the theme, we begin to collect data after selecting topic, let the students collect relevant Empty Nester picture and text information, the students will be very serious, collecting and collating information in spare time, recording the related index. Through the preparation of a month, we began planning Webpage framework, in order to enrich the content of our Webpage, we visited, studied, collected a large number of images, under the guidance of teachers, we has finished processing, image data integration, exchange and cooperation between team member and close cooperation let us harvest a lot.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

Through the work of teachers and students, with communication and guidance of Master Xu, we are very happy when we see the final results, not only because of the final product, but also the activity experience. At the same time to learn computer knowledge, further understanding The joy and pain of the rural Empty Nester.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

Through this project research, the students have a deeper understanding of the rural Empty Nester, and realize the profound meaning of loving Empty Nester, to understand the experience of life and their hope. Through this activity, the students do some publicity in the campus, so that more students understand the left behind elderly suffering and joy. Especially in the harsh conditions, left behind students should grasp the pulse of the times, and have confidence to face the society. Study hard and repay the society.

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

In the study, we found that not only the problem of Daba Mountain elderly left behind is prominent, all the issues are prominent in the central and western regions, poorer are more obvious. China has a population of over 13 hundred million, 900000000 farmers, as agricultural science and technology power are improving, the labor demand is declined than before, rural surplus labors turn to coastal city, so that rural left behind are sick and elderly people. On one hand, these people are shouldering Chinese agricultural production in the western region, and on the other hand, they are shouldering the supervision of children education in the western region. To solve these problems of the Chinese elderly left behind is to solve future development.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

We found that the care of the state policy and investment are increasing year by year when we interviewed and collected information. Through the network propaganda, the whole society understand the pain and joy of Empty Nester, only the whole society form a consensus to solve this part of the problem, especially the mental problem, the whole society can develop harmonious, the Chinese nation can achieve the revival of nation and the prosperity of a country.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

The school president Xu gave us the biggest support, local villagers also matched our interview, provided detailed information to us.

5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)

We are very happy to take part in the Webfare, and we also benefit a lot, but the pressure is very big, all of the members are from junior school. But we don't back down. Through the research we found that Empty Nester always around us, their problem is a social problem, if we do not solve them, the next generation of children's growth will not be solved, because the left behind elderly also shoulder their responsibility in the management. Secondly, through this competition, we not only the computer knowledge, but also learned to make simple Webpage, simple processing photos, learned to use a digital camera; because we do not have the knowledge about making Webpage before, so we met a lot of difficulties. In the rural interview process, because all of them are rural students, so they do not pay attention to the Empty Nester, the effect is poor.
