Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

Our community is quite large. We are a regional center in the North-Western Russia. We have a very interesting location. We are situated between 2 Russian capitals Moscow and Saint Petersburg. The population of the city is about 600 000 people. Tver is a regional cultural historical and econnomical as well as industrial center with very rich history and promising future.

2. Summary of Our Project

We decided to introduce to the world the biggest industrial plant in our region and tell the weorld about the influence and importance of this industry into worldwide community.

The Internet is freely available in school and at home of every student.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

We didn't face many problems however students had some difficulties translating technocal terminology.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

It's absolutely amazing having an opportunity to share with the friends from all around the world interesting information about our community our lives. Let's change the world to the better and open our hearts to each other!!!!

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

We actually had to make a very specific research. The most interesting part was to enter the plant grounds to learn about the details of industry itself. Students got an opportunity to meet with constructors, workers and managers of the factory. It's an amazing experience. Children also had to negotiate with top plant's management to set the excursion to the plant and of course they worked as researchers and then as professional translators and enterpretors. They also enriched their skills as website designers.It fits our school program perfectly.

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

They spoke with the factory's top managers and did the presentation of the plant not just to their classmates but also to students from other schools in our city.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

Our Carriage Building Factory didn't have a website in English before. It's important to present it to the worlds' community. We had a lot of praising comments from both plant management and regional administration.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

Many peope helped our group with both creating the website and gathering the info for it.

5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)

We always knew that Tver Carriage Building Factory is th biggest factory of the type in Russia but we were honestly amazed by the size and the level of industrial technology available.
