Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

Cangxi County is a County under the jurisdiction of Guangyuan City in Sichuang Provincy, China. It is located at the north of Sichuan Basin with a population of 77,0000. Cangxi County covers Jialin area three hundred li with beautiful mountains and clear waters, known as a “simple folkway city in north Sichuan” in ancient time, the reputation of a “Green land of pear ” today. Cangxi kiwi is also called Mihouli, Jinli,Yeli,Shanyangtao, which is a fruit combinations of eatable and medicines with delicate flesh, aroma, low acidity, high nutritional value, known as “ the king of fruit” “the king of VC”. Nowadays, Canxi Kiwi industry is developing rapidly and become the mainstay of local economy, its products have already sale around the world.

2. Summary of Our Project

The subject of our research is kiwi fruit in Cangxi, we took pictures and filmed the Kiwi’s plant, warehousing and marketing, and explored some of the details of Cangxi’s living conditions for Kiwi and kiwi’s nutritional value and economic value. Meanwhile we obtained the support of Cangxi county government departments, school and community, so we got a lot of materials. We tried to use our sites to present the unique charm of Kiwi, this specialty in Cangxi. We always adhere to the 'participation, solidarity' spirit, eventually we hope to share the unique charm of Sichuan pickled cabbage and the local conditions and customs of Sichuan with the friends all over the world Through this contest, sharing our processes and happy!

Our school can access the internet, there are 2 tutors and 2 students have Internet in home among the 7 players, the overall speed is quickly. But the school network can not be used all the time; we must surf online in the spare time.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

1, Our surfing time is limited, we can only surf online in the computer room after school. So we make arrangements ahead of time,sorting out data in advance to improve the efficiency. Of course, we also asked the teacher to help us to do some, such as the web page making, photo processing, and works upload. 2, We are not very familiar with the web page making. We asked the teacher to teach our method of making web page, to ask the teacher for advice. Sometimes we also can find the method on the Internet. 3, Activity funds is not enough. We need some expenses to interview outside, such as transportation costs, these costs can not apply to the parents, we're frugal our living expenses, and teacher sponsored some for us, so that we can successfully complete the relevant work. 5? 4, the time is sufficient. Because we have to learn our courses, there are some other community activities, so the time is limited. so we make full use of the weekend.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

Kiwi fruit is the specialty of Cangxi County, as kiwi industry development, more and more people came to Cangxi to taste Kiwi fruit, and these fruits are also exported to the EU, Japan, the United States, Hong Kong, Taiwan and other countries and regions. Kiwi planting makes Cangxi’s people out of poverty and can live an affluent lifestyle. With dreams of improving folks in my hometown lives, Kiwi fruit becomes an important specialty in local. It is necessary for us to promote my hometown’s specialty. Through our interview, we deeply feel how important the kiwi is to the locals. We got a lot of supports and help during study, and learn more skills. The whole research period made us feel good. We learned that the unity was very important us on real projects. As long as unity, A man can succeed at almost anything. For months we lost more, and got a lot of return toward common goals.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

As the famous educator Tao Xingzhi said: our education should liberate the minds of children, so that they can think; to liberate the child's eyes, so that they can see; to liberate the hands of children, so that they can do; to liberate the child's time, so that they can learn what they want. Interview allows us to learn how to communicate with people, how to deal with all kinds of people, of course, preparation before the interview should be done well. To interview people photography, let us know what is the focus, aperture size. We learned sorting and classification of the methods and skills through collecting materials, refining the theme, planning activities. We also learned how to cooperate with the team, how to process the information and make website with computer.

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

In this activity, we clearly recognize that we have to assume the role of ambassador, not only to study the cultivation, cultivation and value of kiwi fruit, but also sharing the results of the study to the students and the community, we are part of the community, so we have invested a lot of time. Each member of the team followed the team's organization, division of labor, management, etc. In practice. Players also do their best in their respective positions. We insist on the concept of 'participation and solidarity', each member enjoys joys and sorrows, help each other, put the team interests above personal interests, give full play to their strengths in the cooperation, realize the sharing of resources, to discuss together, solve problems together and complete the each work carefully.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

Webfair is the best practice lesson for our vocational school students, we are mainly agricultural professional students, so we never have this kind of practice mode. The students are very enthusiastic and experience the experience that they have never had before. Under the guidance of teachers, we combined the classroom knowledge and extra-curricular knowledge at the first time, especially the 5 students learned to integrate the various skills of information to complete the production of the page. Although the web works are not mature enough, it made us understand: the book knowledge can be rewritten, how to find and create the new knowledge. In our comprehensive practice, we not only allows students to think, to see, to do, to learn, but also allows students to love thinking, love looking, love doing, love learning, so that we really like the practice of such activities.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)

This kind of feeling is good for us that we can enjoy a reporter role. 1,We have a more comprehensive understanding of Sichuan Kiwi. We have had the Kiwi many times, but all of us know little about the origin of Kiwi, production method, the value of such knowledge, through this research, we not only fully understand Cangxi Kiwi, but also realized the kiwi’s all kind of valuation and contributions to the Cangxi economy. 2, this is a very good professional practice lesson, In the activity, we learned how to make a web page, using computer to process information, learned to communicate and cooperate with people, it is a professional practice lesson or those of us who read vocational tourism major, to consolidate the theoretical knowledge, and even learned a lot that never learned in the class.
