Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

We are students of Sekolah Citra Kasih of Indonesia. We have this thing called Interest Group, this Interest Group is called Digital Technology, it helps us improve our computer skills so in the future we know what to do. Interest Group starts at the age of 9-11 years of age( Grade 4-5). We have an Interest Group every Friday.

2. Summary of Our Project

Our project is about Mount Gede, it is located in West Java of Indonesia. Mount Gede is a stratovolcano in West Java, Indonesia. The volcano contains two peaks with Mount Gede as one peak and Mount Pangrango as the other one. Mount Gede is one of the local attractions not so far from the capital of Indonesia, Jakarta. This mount is really famous with the name Mount Gede Pangrango National Park which consists of two main mountains, Mount Gede and Mount Pangrango, as well as a number of other peaks such as Mount Putri, Mount Kendang and Mount Taman. One of the main attractions of Gunung Gede Pangrango National Park is hiking to Mount Gede and Mount Pangrango. The hiking routes to these two mountains have different levels of difficulty, making them suitable for both beginners and experienced climbers. Overall, Gunung Gede Pangrango National Park is an interesting tourist spot and offers spectacular natural beauty. With various types of protected endemic flora and fauna, this national park is also important in preserving nature and the environment. Therefore, for nature and environment lovers, Gunung Gede Pangrango National Park is a must-visit place in West Java.

A. Percentage of students using the Internet at home:more than 50%

B. Number of workstations with Internet access in the classroom:more than 6

C. Connection speed used in the classroom:dedicated connection

D. Number of years our classroom has been connected to the Internet:4-6

E. Additional comments concerning your computer and/or Internet access (Optional):

We were always working on this project at school. We have good facilities and connections now for computer and internet access. But we still have to learn a lot, how to find the proper and interesting information for our project.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

The problem that we need to overcome during making this project is selecting the best topic category of eight categories and finding the clear information about the topic. Beside that, we also have problems with computer cameras. Our school has equipment such as proper computers and internet connection. Our computers have a camera but, maybe some students don’t know where the camera is when they need it and there is no teacher. But it was solved by the teachers telling them where the camera was. At the beginning of doing this project, we had problems choosing the information that will be informative and acknowledge the reader. Most of us never go to that place, we only pass that place. But by doing this project we realized that we have to visit that place and experience the beauty and so many activities that can open our horizons.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

This project improves our knowledge about this local attraction. Mount Gede has become a popular hiking spot and with various types of protected endemic flora and fauna, this national park is also important in preserving nature and the environment. Many activities are held in this place that encourage people to save earth and nature, maintain the cleanliness of our environment, and the beauty of our natural environment. Mount Gede is very beautiful and a must-visit place in West Java, Indonesia.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

Our integrated project, fit to our national curriculum standard that forced students to be an active researcher and also be active in the class by doing research.Sociology subject. The project also connected with our Digital Technology Interest Group curriculum: developing a website, creating content, editing pictures and Entrepreneurship curriculum: Entrepreneurship education Ciputra Way. According to us, our entrepreneurship curriculum shapes a new mindset for us. We can see that entrepreneurship education will spread kindness in a collaborative society. Therefore, through this project we learned more about kindness and collaboration principles and shared them with the Global School Net Community. From this project we learned: how to research about a site that give influence to society, we can explore the information from various resources (internet, books, interview, video, etc), compile it and develop a web. This is a new skill for us. We feel proud about this website, and we really enjoyed our group team work. We discovered, creating a web is a challenge for us, not easy but it’s interesting. We learned many things from the internet more than our traditional classroom.

Project Elements

1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your CyberFair project?

For the completion of this project, we used 18 computers, 2 notebooks, data storage, Xiaomi mobile phone used as for camera and communication with our teams, library for borrowing and reading books, For Software we used: Google sites, Microsoft Office, Google Classroom.

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

Our team acted as ambassadors by posting our website project in the school newsletter which is delivered every three months. We also informed our family about the activities done in our school. We also shared and showed our website to grade IV and V. The purpose is to let them know more about Indonesian local attractions, especially natural attractions and how they keep, care, and enjoy nature. We also published our website in school Instagram so that it will attract many people to explore and be curious about our Local Attractions topic. Natural local attraction saves the culture , and habits of the people who came before.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

Since our community lives in a town, we only go to the natural attractions only for refreshing. Our project has already made a different point of view for us. The natural local attractions need to be visited not only for the economical benefits, but also for us to look deeper that this place has contributed a lot for our life. When we take care of all the natural attractions we have, we share kindness not only for human beings but also to all living things and the most important thing is for ourselves. We need to collaborate with all of the visitor, manager support and government to maintain natural local attractions, especially Gunung Gede. Many people were pleased to see our county assets, but at the same time, they were concerned that the young now do not care about nature. But the positive activity that has already been held in this place has changed the way we treat the nature we visit. We were all touched at the bottom of our hearts.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

In the process of research, I would like to thank the parents of the students and the staff of the temple for their volunteer assistance, so that we can conduct the research smoothly, and thank him for his help and encouragement. Thank you to the teachers at the school for their enthusiasm in contributing works and participating in our research discussions.

5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)

We learn how to build good teamwork through creating this project, Even though there are many different ideas during discussion. We learn how to evaluate and read Mount Gede articles. We start to know that Mount Gede is not only for sight seeing but a lot of interesting activities and positive influences. Mount Gede is a treasure not only for Indonesia but also this world. It gives us plenty of opportunities to build our skills, learn the environment, business, of course enjoy the beauty and discover many interesting and amazing things. Having a positive learning experience will help us take the initiative to explore other areas of life. This helps to start the habit of exploring and discovering new things. Many local attractions are very interactive. By learning more information about Local attraction will create a more conducive environment for learning. Hopefully through this way we can share kindness to the young generation.
