1. Description of Our Community
Our community is situated in central Taiwan, right next to the Bagua Mountain Range. With its pleasant climate, it’s a coastal region primarily centered around agriculture, making it a peaceful and comfortable place to live. While it might not offer an abundance of cultural activities, it’s full of warmth and hospitality, and it preserves many meaningful traditions worth cherishing. In recent years, advancements in transportation infrastructure have made it much easier to travel north to major cities. This development has significantly improved access to educational and lifestyle opportunities, while also contributing to the region’s economic growth.
2. Summary of Our Project
Our project showcases the Ping Peng Cao Children’s Theater Troupe, Changhua’s first local children’s theater group, established in 2003. Over the years, they’ve earned recognition, including the Outstanding Team Award from Changhua County, and they remain the only local theater group selected twice for the Literary Crossover Theater program. In recent years, the Ping Peng Cao Theater has been deeply involved in promoting theater education. They’ve produced many large-scale children’s plays, drawing in large audiences and gradually cultivating a deeper appreciation for the arts in the local community. The troupe also collaborates with Taiwan’s government on drama promotion projects, partnering with schools and teachers to bring theater into communities. Through their efforts, students are encouraged to explore the beauty and uniqueness of their hometowns while fostering creativity and discovering new perspectives on local culture through drama. Recently, the troupe has introduced programs focused on developing students’ skills in scriptwriting and physical performance. These courses inspire children to step onto the stage, express themselves through acting, and embrace the transformative power of drama. By doing so, the Pingpong Grass Theater not only enriches the art of performance but also adds depth and meaning to the lives of the students and audiences they reach.
