Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

We are the students of Ciputra Kasih School in Semarang, Indonesia. Mr. Ciputra built our school in memorial as the founder of Indonesia Entrepreneurship education curriculum which is applied in our school. There are 10 school branches all over Indonesia. Those who were part of creating this website were students in grades 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11 in the general term of 12-17 years.

2. Summary of Our Project

The CyberFair Web Project at our School is an initiative where students work in groups to create websites that feature information about historical landmarks. In this project, we carry out research and present Blenduk Church, a historical landmark in our city. We conducted literature studies from various available sources, and portrayed how Blenduk Church played an important role in people's lives. Through this project, not only we learned about website development, but improved our research, collaboration and communication skills as well. Our website provides documentation, texts relevant on the topic, and a guide for those who are interested in learning more about this historical landmark. This project also helped us contribute to the global understanding of cultural diversity, in line with CyberFair's objectives.

3. Our Computer and Internet Access

A. Percentage of students using the Internet at home:more than 50%

B. Number of workstations with Internet access in the classroom:more than 6

C. Connection speed used in the classroom:dedicated connection

D. Number of years our classroom has been connected to the Internet:more than 6

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

One of the problems we need to address is limited information as it remains a sacred building used for religious activities. Another problem was that we were unable to visit Blenduk Church due to time constraints. To overcome this, we worked together to look up information on Blenduk Church using the many resources available at the school, internet, and other platforms available. Initially, developing this website presented difficulties due to our lack of technological skills. But we can overcome this as long as we practice, we also work together as a team to complement the information obtained from various sources.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

Our participation in the International Schools CyberFair has enabled us to showcase the rich history and cultural significance of Blenduk Church, deepening the appreciation of Semarang's heritage among students and the community. We aim to introduce Blenduk Church to a wider audience, making it more recognizable and encouraging more visitors. By exploring the history of various information with the internet at our disposal, we are already contributing to the preservation of cultural heritage, ensuring that this precious thing will always be preserved, remembered and maintained for future generations.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

This project and research collaborates with several relevant subjects, such as the journalism interest group that combines children with similar interests, computer classes to apply knowledge of history into digital works, and social science subjects to deepen knowledge of the past, present and future, which led to this initiative and research. The National Self-Directed Learning Curriculum is used in our school alongside the entrepreneurship curriculum. In the entrepreneurship program, we learn how to come up with useful, unique and creative ideas. To preserve historical buildings in Semarang, Indonesia, we created a website and spread the word about our efforts online. We think that content published online will be seen, read, and shared by a wider audience than content published in print media, such as books, posters, or other limited-access publications. The creation of this website will make the public aware of that.
