3. Find Projects and Partners
The project registries and mailing
lists below, in addition to the Example Networked Project
sites we've already visited, will help you find projects appropriate for your
students.
Project Registries maintain current
announcements of projects submitted by other teachers and many commercial scale projects.
Mailing Lists send project announcements
directly to you via email, so you don't need to check in with your Web browser.
- Global Schoolhouse
Project Registry
- http://www.gsn.org/pr/
You'll find a large selection of current projects from a variety of sources, but mainly
from other teachers. You can also make your own project
and post it here. (See also Global
Schoolhouse Visitor Guide). Also check out GSN's Hilites
mailing list described below.
- WorLD Links for Development

Mailing Lists
(Listservs)
Electronic mailing lists are an efficient way to keep up-to-date with
new projects since announcements are delivered directly to your email box. When you send
email to a mailing list, all list subscribers receive a copy of your message via email.
Mailing lists allow you to follow discussions, receive information related to specific
topics, and communicate with your peers around the world.
- Hilites
- The Hilites
list, moderated by The Global Schoolhouse, is
the oldest (started on FrEdMail in 1987... with web archives going back to 1995 ) and most reliable mailing list on the
Internet for high-quality networked
projects. Though other educational mailing lists may also announce projects, we
recommend that you begin your listserv experience with Hilites. The list
is professionally moderated and all projects are screened for credibility.
To subscribe to the Hilites mailing list, fill out the form
below and hit the "Subscribe" button (requires a live Internet connection). You will receive confirmation within 24
hours via email. If your Web browser does not support forms, send email to Majordomo@gsn.org with the line "subscribe
hilites" as the first line in the body of the message.
- IECC
- Intercultural E-mail Classroom Connections
http://www.stolaf.edu/network/iecc/
Several mailing lists that help teachers and students find one another to collaborate on
projects.
- KIDLINK
- http://www.kidlink.org
A global, multilingual email network for 10-15 year olds. Adult mentors organize
curriculum projects through KIDPROJ.
