Description of Our Community: Dacun Township is located in the east-central Changhua Plain, featuring a long and narrow layout. It is bordered by Bagua Mountain to the east, Yuanlin City and Puxin Township to the south, Poyan and Xiushui Townships to the west, and Huatan Township to the north. The terrain slopes from east to west, forming an inverted triangle. The Shigou Bei Canal runs through the eastern region, while farmland is mainly concentrated in the northeast, with scattered agricultural plots to the west of Zhongshan Road.
Agriculture has long been the township’s economic foundation, with rice and Kyoho grapes as key crops. Dacun’s grapes are renowned across Taiwan, making them a signature local product. However, traditional agriculture faces challenges such as market competition, declining efficiency, and sustainability concerns. To address these issues, our study focuses on the grape industry in Dacun, exploring ways to enhance production through smart agriculture and sustainable strategies. By integrating modern technology with traditional cultivation, the industry seeks to maintain its reputation and improve agricultural resilience. This research aims to identify solutions that balance economic growth and environmental sustainability, ensuring the continued success of Dacun’s grape industry.
Project Description: Kyoho Grape was introduced to Taiwan in 1964 and has become an important agricultural product in Dacun Township, Changhua. Due to the favorable climate and fertile soil, Kyoho Grape grows well in Dacun Township, and has developed unique cultivation techniques, such as fruit thinning, bagging, and pest management, to improve quality and yield. In recent years, the development of the industry has become more refined and market-oriented, with production and marketing teams working together to improve competitiveness. In terms of pest control, farmers utilize Bordeaux liquid and organic materials to reduce the use of pesticides and ensure fruit safety. Overall, the Dacun grape industry has continued to improve its quality under the impetus of technological innovation and marketing, and has become a representative grape production area in Taiwan.
