Description of Our Community: Through the increase of life expectancy at an average of 2.05 per year for males and 3.05 years for females in Taiwan. Taiwan has faced the uttermost problem in the rising number of elderly people in the country itself. Many of those who reach the age of 65 and above usually live alone or are sent to retirement homes by their family members. This then creates the 1084 nursing homes that consist in Taiwan. Therefore, this could then explain why the elderly population in Taiwan suffers from the minimum amount of accompaniment they get once they’ve reached the average age of 65. This also makes the reason why nursing homes/retirement places become a large part of the community.
Project Description: In Taiwan, a significant number of elderly individuals suffer from social issues, including social isolation, mental health issues, and psychological disorders. Most of the population of these elderly usually get put into nursing homes and retirement places. With all of that above, our team of five from both Asia American International Academy and Grace Christian Academy decided on our annual 2025 Cyber Fair Project. Therefore, we’ve collectively proceeded to conduct our project on “ The Impact of Isolationism with Elderlies,” which ties in with the high amount of aging population that exists within Taiwan.
Therefore, our team aims to hold various events within communities and also retirement places to increase the amount of accompaniment of the aging population in Taiwan. We also aim to hold campaigns and create awareness promotions within communities. At last, we will also conduct interviews with retirement place officials and heads to understand the current situation and stance that lies for the elderly population in Taiwan.
