Description of Our Community: Taiwan is an island nation in East Asia, bordered by the East China Sea and the Philippine Sea. While the island is celebrated for its majestic mountain ranges and breathtaking coastlines, its geographical location means it is on the front lines of the global marine plastic pollution crisis. Our community is defined by a collaboration of fishermen, local government agencies, and innovative companies dedicated to protecting these waters. Rebornplas unites traditional maritime workers with modern environmental researchers to transform abandoned nets into valuable materials. Through this research, we hope to broaden public awareness regarding the importance of ocean conservation and the circular economy.

Project Description: For this project, our group investigates the "idea to item" ideal of Rebornplas, a company pioneering the circular economy in Taiwan. The organization supports the removal of abandoned marine fishing nets and provides sustainable alternatives for global industries by converting these wastes into quality nylon pellets. Our team spent time researching, surveying and interviewing. This research highlights the challenges of recycling marine wastes and market acceptance in the industry. In summary, our investigation demonstrates how recycling can solve the problem of marine pollution while showing the world that environmental sustainability is practical and necessary.
