Description of Our Community: Tongan Elementary School is located in Fenyuan Township, Changhua County, Taiwan. It is located on the east side of Bagua Mountain, about 200 meters above sea level, and is a hilly area. Administratively, it is under the jurisdiction of Fenyuan Township, Changhua County. The school was founded on April 1, 1922 and was named 'Fenyuan Public School Tong'anliao Branch'. In order to make it convenient for students to study, villagers from Tong'an Village and Zhonglun Village jointly established Tong'an Primary School, which became the second oldest primary school in Fenyuan Township and has a history of 102 years. Due to the declining birth rate, the number of students was only 28 in 2017. However, in recent years, due to the development of popular special courses, the number of students has gradually increased to 63.

Project Description: The Tiaoshui Ancient Trail, located in Fenyuan Township, Changhua County, serves as a captivating window into the region's historical heritage and ecological beauty. Originally established during the Qing Dynasty, this path was a vital lifeline for early settlers who traversed the rugged terrain of the Bagua Mountains to fetch essential spring water. Today, the trail has been transformed from a functional survival route into a premier destination for ecotourism and cultural preservation.

Our project delves into the dual identity of the trail. Geographically, it is renowned for its breathtaking "May Snow"—the stunning white Tung blossoms that carpet the path every spring, creating a serene natural spectacle. Beyond its scenery, the trail embodies the resilient spirit of the local community. Through field surveys and interviews, we document the transition from ancient labor to modern leisure, highlighting how the local government and residents work together to protect the biodiversity of the Bagua Mountain range.

By showcasing the Tiaoshui Ancient Trail to a global audience, we aim to bridge the gap between past and present, advocating for the sustainable conservation of our local landscapes. This project is not just a study of a path, but a tribute to the enduring connection between the people of Fenyuan and their land.
