Description of Our Community: The local community is primarily defined as the school itself, where students spend their daily lives in an environment valued for its cleanliness and safety. This community is located in close proximity to the Niaosong Wetlands, a natural site that has unfortunately been damaged by human activity. Current challenges within the community include traffic problems, waste management issues, and littering at specific locations such as school vending machines and school entrances. These persistent issues reflect a disconnect between academic learning and environmental responsibility, which the project seeks to address. Ultimately, the community is working toward cultivating a sustainable culture of environmental stewardship. By analyzing disposal habits and improving the quality of the learning environment, students aim to bridge the gap between awareness and action to create a better community for all.
Project Description: "Our School, Our Community" is a student-driven project focused on identifying and solving local challenges within the school and the nearby Niaosong Wetlands. According to the sources, the initiative is motivated by a desire to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and environmental responsibility by analyzing disposal habits and improving waste management. Working in groups, students tackle specific practical issues such as traffic problems, waste at school entrances, and litter surrounding vending machines. The project incorporates professional frameworks into its research, including Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and ESG principles, while also engaging in international exchange programs with partners like Japan-ISE Senior High School. Ultimately, the project aims to foster school pride and cultivate a culture of environmental stewardship where students take active ownership of their surroundings.
