Description of Our Community: Linkou District, located in New Taipei City, has gradually transformed from a rural and industrial area into a rapidly developing urban community. In the past, Linkou was well known for its brick kiln industry and farming villages. Today, modern residential areas, schools, and commercial centers have replaced many traditional industries. Despite these rapid changes, many valuable cultural traditions still remain in the community. One of these traditions is Zijidi Opera, a folk performance art organized and performed by local community members. It often appears during temple festivals and community celebrations. Zijidi Opera reflects the history, culture, and strong community spirit of the people of Linkou.
Project Description: Our project, "Stories of Linkou: Passing Down the Art of Zijidi Opera," focuses on exploring and documenting the traditional folk performance culture of Zijidi Opera in the Linkou community.
Through interviews with local cultural workers, field visits to temple festivals, and online research, we learned about the history, performance styles, costumes, music, and cultural significance of Zijidi Opera. We also created digital materials, presentations, and exhibitions to introduce this traditional art to more students and community members. By completing this project, we hope more people will understand the importance of Zijidi Opera and help preserve this unique cultural heritage.
