Description of Our Community: In our hometown, Wanhua, there is a famous sightseeing area called Ximending. Many people go there to celebrate and express ideas about gender diversity.

In 2025, the Taipei City Government also invited people to write their wishes about “love,” “equality,” or other rainbow-related ideas on colorful notes and paste them on a canvas rainbow flag.

At first, we were not very familiar with gender issues. However, when we passed by Ximending, we saw many people enjoying the parade. Sometimes their unique customs made us feel surprised and curious.

Because we also felt unfamiliar at the beginning, we believe that other students our age may have the same feelings. Therefore, we think it is important to do research on this topic and share what we learn with other students. In this way, more students can understand gender diversity and learn to respect different people.

Project Description: About the steps of our research project, we did more than just observe the activities in Ximending. We also read a lot of information about gender diversity. In addition, we invited a guest speaker to share his life story with us. He told us that although his physical sex is male, he feels that his gender identity is female.

Through his sharing, we were able to understand the struggles in his heart and also learn more about the feelings of people who have similar experiences.

Besides the interview, we also planned to give a presentation to take action and advocate our ideas to students who are the same age as us. Through our presentation, we hope more students can understand gender diversity and treat different people with respect.

We hope that everyone can live happily in this world without fear or discrimination. In the past, some public figures made very negative comments about LGBTQ+ people. For example, one Brazilian president once said he could not accept having a gay son. However, many people responded with supportive messages, such as: “I hope we can stand up against old-fashioned ideas about gender.” “Thank you to my parents for always supporting and accepting me.” “All humans should be allowed to love other humans. Gender should not matter.”
