Description of Our Community: The goal of Food Guardian is to reduce food waste and promote healthier, more sustainable lifestyles. By encouraging responsible consumption and better food management habits, the system supports the principles of sustainable living and aligns with global sustainability goals. Through technology and innovation, Food Guardian helps ensure that every ingredient is used wisely, contributing to a more environmentally friendly and resource-efficient future.
Project Description: Our International Schools CyberFair project focuses on “Food Guardian – Smart Ingredient Management System,” addressing the common issue of food waste in daily household life. Many families unintentionally waste food because ingredients are forgotten in the refrigerator or not managed properly. Through this project, we aim to raise public awareness about responsible food management and promote sustainable eating habits by applying innovative technology and creative solutions.
This project integrates Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), and cloud-based data management to develop a smart ingredient management system. Using image recognition and data analysis, the system helps users record the types of ingredients in their refrigerator, track inventory quantities, and monitor expiration dates. It also sends real-time reminders through LINE notifications when ingredients are about to expire. In addition, the system can recommend recipes based on available ingredients, helping users make better use of food and reduce unnecessary purchases and waste. We also share knowledge about food management and sustainable consumption through websites and social media to increase public awareness of food waste issues.
Through this project, we aim to build a platform that combines technology and sustainability, encouraging more people to pay attention to food management and resource utilization. By integrating innovation, education, and community awareness, we hope that every ingredient can be used wisely, reducing food waste and contributing to environmental protection and sustainable development.
